Ch ch changes...

So, I am trying to get back to a new normal; it will never be what it was again.
I know I am going to need help.
I have started back on my exercise routine, but I am having a hard time staying on my diabetic diet.
I think it's more about stress than anything else.
My blood sugar numbers are high, and even with the exercise and insulin, they are not at
normal levels.
I don't think being disgusted with myself is working, and so I know I have to seek out some counseling before my health gets worse.

I am thinking about joining an ongoing book club at the old people's gatherings or the community center, as it is so named.
They also do a walking club in the spring, and perhaps I will join that.

I will have to get a job because I only have about 9 months' worth of income to work with.
I can't get any retirement until I am 60.
There is a place that offers training for people over 55.
They train you, it's only 20 hours a week at minimum wage, but it's a program where the goal is to end up with full-time job at a higher wage.

I know I can't commit to much until after this month and the memorial is behind me.
I will call the counseling place today because it always takes time to get into something like that.

Stress can be a huge contributor to blood sugar spikes, as I’ve learned with mine. The best thing you can probably do is stick with the eating plan even if you aren’t seeing the numbers you want if you know your stress level has been high. It’s probably worth a call or visit to your doctor if the numbers have been elevated for a prolonged period of time.

The job might end up being a blessing in disguise in some ways, because it could get you out of the house and interacting with some new people.

I wish you luck and remember to have patience with yourself. You’re going through a lot and deserve to give yourself some grace as you navigate everything.

Go easy. This is all new. My mom is a widow and it took her some time to figure it out.

@uncalled4 It's a lot to think and deal with.

You know I always wish you the best. But, there are so many places paying more than minimum wage. What kind of training are these people giving?

@Justmeraeagain I don't blame you. I am considering going back to work too. With my knees and shoulder construction is not an option. I could do sales though. What I would actually like to do is sell RV's. It's just in this economy I'm not sure I could make a living.

@Musicman Whatever I decide, it will have to be in a few months.
I need to attend the memorial on the 30th, and then my daughter and I are going away for three days the second week of September.
On my birthday, October 13, I plan to visit my granddaughter, Molly.
