@within forgive my ignorance...but can you not support england or scotland?
within · 36-40, M
@beermeplease I told my ex-crush that I would support his Country and, even if we aren't together anymore, I will keep this promise. Also I've been fascinated by Australian animals lately, like kangaroos and koalas!

beermeplease · M

Nope. I have absolutely zero interest in sports.
anathemaJack · 51-55, M
Soccer is a girls sport. So no.
@anathemaJack fair point. The women's teams are much better at it.
beermeplease · M
i'll watch as much as i can when i'm not at work. the only way i can attend the games they are having in my city (vancouver) is if someone gave me tickets....it's next to impossible to buy them.
exexec · 70-79, C
No. I will be trying to avoid all the traffic it brings to the Houston area.
beermeplease · M
@exexec same in my city...it's gonna be a zoo
KeyserSoze · 36-40, M
No, it’ll be the worst.

Boston is one of the host cities, but it’s really not in Boston. It’s in Foxborough at Gillette Stadium where the Pats play.
I’m hoping the traffic isn’t too bad because I drive to and from work on that section of 95.
As for going, no. I’m not enough of a fan to pay over $1,000/ticket and pay for food and parking too. I only live maybe 40 minutes away, but it’d take 2-3 hours to get home with the traffic exiting the stadium and making my way back to the highway.
It’s just not worth it. Then you factor in the Yahoos, I’m a hard pass.

Nope.. of which sport?
SnickersDOM · M
nope, sports are a snoozefest to me
worse, the money and resources allocated to sports facilities and pro athletes, rather than genuinely important pursuits and occupations, is a shameful symptom of the cancer that is capitalism

No and.no.

Unlikely.
Normally I watch. If you're in a nation consumed by ever ridiculous (but wholly unjustified) expectation, it's just something that you do.
A tradition if you like.
As i imagine the Americans treat the Superbowl.
You hope and pray you make it to the quarter-finals (because at least that's 'respectable') where (tradition dictates) you'll be beaten.
Probably by a similarly ranked team as your own.
Probably after extra-time.
Possibly after penalties.
And then the deflation of a nation begins.
Ordinary people gripe to each other about it for a week.
Football pundits spout nonsense on sports channels for a week and the very worst of newspaper hacks calling themselves 'Football insiders, will lay blame; make personal remarks on those associated they dislike; attempt to force players who were in the squad to 'retire from international football' since they don't need the hassle.
And then we await the qualification for the next one

Maybe the highlights when the Dutch play. And even that's a big maybe.
