Many Dollar stores - (actually $2 stores) have this sign - Everything $2 unless priced otherwise.
There are $5 products in these stores.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Gusman There’s a lot of products in Dollar Trees here that are $5 now. It’s rare to find anything for $1, they raised the basic price to $1.25 and plan on raising it to $1.75 in October.

What we think of as the French Franc is actually the New Franc. What happened to the Old Franc? It became so worthless that the French needed a wheelbarrow to carry it, and in 1960 they designated the NF, New Franc as worth 100 old Francs.

How much longer before $100 US becomes $1 New Dollar?

California with its progressive thinking is leading it towards a state of the very wealthy or the poor, no in between class of people.
Musicman · 61-69, M
And sadly the Democrats will never see it as their fault. ☹️

Family Dollar stores will be closing in most states they cant make a profit and the parent company has too much debt.

Democrats with their socialist polices - raise the minimum wage to $20 - are going to put a lot of people on the unemployment line. Your average fast food restaurant now will probably have 3 people working a shift and customers will have to tap in their orders from computer screens. One guy to cook, one guy to fill orders, another person to fill both roles at times. Forget about 10 people per shift.

Family dollars are in bad areas high crime and theft
bye bye middle class.
little by little step by step.

hope the world is ready for italian-esc ration cards.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Expand your thinking. I believe this could be a good opportunity for mom-and-pop very small businesses. Put the powerful corrupted corporations under in various ways and let a couple start up food stands instead of corporate fast food places, ,businesses such as tiny small corner stores for basic groceries & cleaning & laundry essentials like is common some other countries could help with the lack of Dollar stores. I saw a lot of them in populated areas in Morocco. Customers have to ask for the things they want because there is a tall counter keeping them out of those tiny stores. Some items like snacks and sweets displayed behind glass cases under the counters. No need to pay anyone else $20 per hour and benefits such as workman’s comp
Insurance and the demand will be there. Also stop with the self- employment tax entirely. It has given unfair advantages to corporations when small business owners are heavily taxed. Give the police the power to handle shoplifters and business owners the right to protect their businesses with deadly force if need be. I am old enough to remember those mom and pop stores here mostly family run and the tiny food stalls. The food was great compared to fast food these days and small stores offered better services **** Also there is a plan in place to do away with the IRS and have a straight tax on new goods. Groceries are supposed to be non-taxed used goods if sold by individuals. Bartering may become a lot more common with used goods as well. Babylon is burning.

As you know well, the outcome was well intended! 😑

Dollar Twenty Five Tree has had to close 1000 stores nation wide, and the ones which carry food have had to raise the price to the $7 level for some items.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou Did that number include Family Dollar? I heard they would close down. There’s one maybe 8 blocks from here and it smelled like a dirty ashtray inside the one time I went there.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti Nope. Just Dollar Twenty Five Tree.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Change the store to $2 store and pay a decent wage - people will still purchase from this shop
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Parent company went broke. Made nation wide news in fact. And the only business the parent company has in California is the 99 cent store.

Explain that? Why the parent company went broke and is taking it out on the subsidiary company? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is a national problem. The Walmart's are killing the economy.

Why? Because Walmart's products are not from the USA! Mostly China.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@DeWayfarer Yeah Walmart started gradually adding foreign-made items back in the early 90’s. I’d see clothing tags that had red, white, and blue and the company name would have America or USA in it. But read the finer print on the label and they were made in Pakistan or China. I remember when Sam Walton was still alive that they’d get some merchandise being crafted in Oklahoma and have racks of it near the cash registers to help promote it…hair bows and decorated barrettes etc. back when they were popular here was just one of those small companies that got the business.
Wonder how many other dollar stores will be following suit.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
This is exactly what people get for not thinking about the consequences, oh the fuck well 🤷🏾‍♂️
There are several in Las Vegas, they are very interesting stores, mostly junk, but always packed.
