Someone from here taught me that every decision we make and everything we hold in our hands has caused or been the result of some amount of suffering. This is a pretty surface level example but some manufacturers import goods from regions who use child/slave labor, and we use those products, none the wiser.
This same person also taught me that the struggle for freedom has always been present but some of us show up to the fight late. It can be overwhelming, like something new and catastrophic is happening, but it's really just always been that way.
Keep your Kindle and enjoy it. Its particular journey is unclear. But it's here now, in your hands. In the future, if you wish, just be more conscious of who you buy from. But remember that nothing will ever fully level the playing field for humankind.

@SinlessOnslaught Very nice ... well put.
I feel this same about mine .... also I don't like that it just works for Amazon books ... not ebooks from my local library.

Is Kindle fire from the same company? I have had many of the handy little gadgets and love them.

Now contrary to what I just said making conscientious decisions is true you should try to do that but it is also currently impractical to live your life that way. Unless of course you're a billionaire then you can afford to do that look up TV manufacturers I think there's only one left in the United States and I believe that's Vizio

Well that depends have you ever owned a pair of Nikes they were made off of slave labor in China. Have you ever worn Polo it funds all types of racist organizations. Have you ever bought anything at Walmart you know there's a reason they have to quit advertising made in the USA. Have you ever thought about buying a electric car or an electric bike well those batteries are made in third world countries where the workers live in slave type conditions working 14 to 16 hours a day. Have you ever used an iPhone they're made in China we're literally the employees are locked into the factory.

You should return it and then buy it back cheaper as used stock. That way you're preventing them from getting full retail. Also, steal one on the way out of the store and sell it on the black market
