I love temu
I've ordered lots of items and find them durable

AbbeyRhode · F
Nope, I don't trust it. I've heard too many complaints about bait and switch, poor quality products, and people having their bank info stolen.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbeyRhode not giving over my bank info. Will use a prepaid Visa and purchase quite a few at a time. Some of the items I’ve chosen are on clearance and they are getting snatched up before I am paying for them and then those get cancelled.
My one and only order from Temu resulted in my bank denying/delaying the payment from my debit card as a precaution to a potentially fraudulant website. I cancelled the order.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@LoneVoice I will use a prepaid Visa card instead of using my bank card. They don’t need to know what my card numbers are. And the Visa card will be nearly maxed out with my order when I get it. I already have 36 items in the cart, some stationary items, hats & head coverings, magnetic shower drain screen covers (I have shed a lot of hair this past year being anemic and it’s a hassle to pull the hair out of the drain), wood honey dipper, easy to thread sewing needles, 6-in-1 portable DVD player etc., ring size adjusters, a plastic ring size thing to measure my finger since I’ve lost so much weight, 5-piece plastic drain uncloggers (they are $1.25 each at Dollar Tree and $1.78 for 5 of them on Temu), 2 window bird feeders and 1 window hummingbird feeder (I want to watch them feed from inside my home), rice washing bowl, a long 2-cup house bird feeder for the cage, they sell for $9 at the pet store and same thing on Temu is only $2.24, rice bowl strainer because I am tired of losing rice down the drain when I pour off the water and keep rinsing a few times, a strong fishing magnet, heavy duty hook magnets, and a 2-size wood tart tamper to make tart shells in mini and regular size muffin tins. So far this is what I got at @ $105.35. Might as well go right after Walmart opens tomorrow morning and get the Visa card and send the order in the morning. Everything I bought is probably a third or a quarter of what I’d pay online or in a store.

I know people who have had a great experience with them. I haven’t order from them though. Almost have a couple of times because the deals are that good. The deals are so good because on a lot of the products they cut out the middle man, i.e. Amazon, Walmart, other store that can jack up the price for the biggest profit. The rest of the products are just knockoffs of what you’d pay more for because of the name slapped on it or the store selling it. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Other times you get a great deal. You’re going the right route with the Visa card though. Think having my checking account linked to them is the biggest deterrent I have concerning making an order.
G0ddess · F
It’s better to make a new bank account with the bare minimum for online shopping so that there’s no risk involved if it’s compromised
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G0ddess not using my banking account to purchase anything from them. Will use a Visa card and use as much as I can in one or two transactions there
G0ddess · F
@cherokeepatti why not PayPal? That way it masks your card info
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@G0ddess I won’t even use it there
saintsong · 41-45, F
I've heard that we don't get Temu here in Canada, but I am about to use Shein.ca.......They sell everything! I've bought a few outfits that I absolutely love, and am about to buy more this week for our upcoming vacation! It's a fast fashion website that sells everthing from clothing to household items. it's great and affordable a fraction of the price! So I use that...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@iamnikki yeah Walmart is going to feel this eventually. I can buy the same things on Amazon for a lot less than Walmart sells .They don’t even have that good of clearance sales any more. Temu offers some of the same things I’ve gotten at Dollar Tree but at a much lower price. Retailers are going to have a problem eventually if the trend to buy online continues. It seems that Walmart is not even trying.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti do you have Amazon Prime? A movie that came out last month is on there, but it's $20 without prime. I can see it at the theater for $10 so it's not worth it w/o prime.
I don't get much from Walmart aside from groceries maybe once a month (Aldi mostly) and toiletries.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@iamnikki I don’t have Amazon Prime.

Temu is a Chinese subsidiary of Pinduoduo, a large, Chinese retailer. Temu has a bad reputation.

When you actually try to order something from them, the price you first saw will change to a higher price if you want a different color. It's a bait and switch. Sometimes, what you want is right there in front of you, and you try to buy it, and Temu substitutes another more expensive item. Sometimes it's an item that takes hard to find batteries.

Temu has a reputation for putting fake customer feedback on the items they sell, AND for promising guaranteed refunds which do not appear.

The crate scam is one they use to try to get hold of your credit card number. They tell you that a crate full of a certain number of randomly selected items has been reserved in your name...and it does seem like a bargain at $10, the way they describe it. However, they will not sell it to you unless you give them a Visa or Mastercard number.

I began to receive the Crate scam emails, and no matter how many times I marked them as SPAM, they keep reappearing.
Alisha233 · 31-35, F
I haven't purchased anything from Temu, although it looks very tempting...reminds me of wish.com
I am a little skeptical as the deals look to good to be true, and I worry about being scammed.
I like the thought of buying products made in the USA.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Alisha233 My neighbor orders and hasn’t has a problem with what she got. She has a lot of money saved and this example is why. She is a savvy shopper.
Fairydust · F
I’ve used it, no issues.
I ordered from them recently, I think I used paypal and haven't had a problem. I recieved what I ordered about a week later and was happy with it. Their prices are insanely low.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@robingoodfellow it seems to wholesale to the public. People can order the lowest priced type items a double the price and still beat their competition in price
I have not for the very reasons you listed but if the take the prepaid visas, might be worth it.
Iwillwait · M
I only use PayPal when using any of those type of sites.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Iwillwait I don’t even want to enter my Palpal with them.
Iwillwait · M
@cherokeepatti way more layers of protection for you. I have had items come not as described and Temu was very quick to refund with 0 hassle. Upload two fotos and click. Refund sent.
Teslin · M
I've read some bad reviews.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Teslin I was thinking that other businesses might do it to discourage people from finding bargains at a much lower price than what they offer. I am also thinking a lot of these Amazon and Ebay vendors are buying a lot from Temu and reselling it to make a good profit.
Teslin · M
@cherokeepatti That's always a possibility.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
It looks all cheaply made. Worse than even Etsy.

I have yet to order from either.

Not certain yet I believe Temu is directly from China.

This is Forbes (market analysis) saying this, not their competition...

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@DeWayfarer I’ve bought something identical, same print and fabric from Amazon for over 4 times what Temu is offering. Why not buy it at a good discount instead of Amazon. And I was pleased with what I got on Amazon, not cheap made and nice fabric.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti read the article. There's more than one point.

I don't believe they stand up for any products. Where at least the Amazon products they do.

Sometimes it's hard to tell which is a Amazon product or a reseller product on Amazon. You got to look closely from where it's coming.

Then check out the reseller's ratings very closely.

Same on eBay BTW. I have bought reseller items on eBay. Yet I check them out closely.

If on either a reseller actually doesn't have a website, be careful.

I don't say don't trust them because reviews on the reseller are sometimes very good. Not just the product. The actual reseller.

Just use paypal

Risky but prices are low
Haven't used Temu.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Dont trust them . Crappy merchandise and poor customer service
Adrift · 61-69, F
No I dont trust them.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
Try AliExpress - i've used them a few times and they're fine, my bank account hasn't been emptied ... YET

... items seem to arrive quicker and ON TIME from them in comparison to our own indigenous carriers
I got a multi pocketed purse for my mother for mother's day last year, less than $4, real leather, low shipping, got here fast, and not one single banking issue.
