Does your wifi ever stop working for about an hour even when you reboot it, but then just suddenly works again?

So annoying

Scenario 1: you cannot connect to your WiFi router. As in your computer/phone will not pair with the WiFi router.

Scenario 2: your computer/phone is connected to the WiFi router, but you cannot access the Internet.

Scenario 1: your WiFi router may be tool old to keep up with the WiFi connectivity methods your computer/phone is trying to use.

Scenario 2: your Internet provider is providing you with crappy service.

@DarkSideoftheMoon I helped a friend, who has a 100 acre man cave retreat in the nearby mountains, install an Internet satellite link, a few weeks ago. The installation was dead simple, and he's got great coverage, including live voice calls (no noticeable lag).

Google Starlink and Telesat and see if they offer services where you are.

@Northwest are they in the uk?
Northwest · M
@DarkSideoftheMoon Both companies are worldwide, but they are not 100% deployed, so you need to hit their web sites, to see if where you are had coverage. I know they refocused to launch more satellites to cover Ukraine, so it's possible that accelerated their European timetable.
Haha when I first read this I thought you wrote “wife” not “Wi-Fi”

Yep
I have to reset the combo router/modem about twice a week

@DarkSideoftheMoon if there’s competition service in your area, you should consider changing providers. Unfortunately that’s the only method that gets anyone to act

@SW-User i have to wait until my "contract" is up now. And unfortunately the next best service is a dish service and my neighbours said they lose service all the time with them. Oh, we have a cable and Internet bundle. I dont even watch tv but my husband likes his sports so 🤷

@DarkSideoftheMoon well that bites. Ugh
Do you own the modem and router or is it the providers equipment?
Yes more noticeable lately. I've asked others that user different providers and they've experienced the same. I'm blaming the alien's.

@WhisperingAngel they need to f off
@DarkSideoftheMoon I tend to agree. If you depend on the internet for work it happens to make things more difficult.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@WhisperingAngel i use whatsapp to talk and text because i get no phone signal where i live

Yep, and yes it is annoying. Unfortunately, when an ISP has the local market fairly locked up, you don't have a choice.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
That sounds like an issue with your service provider.
Lilymoon · F
Call your internet provider
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F

Sounds like a provider issue
MethDozer · M
Yeah. Like others have stated it's usually a provider issue. Which I have repeatedly cursed my out for and ttied demanding I habe my monthly bill adjusted and discounted for. How tjey can legally say no boggles the mind.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@MethDozer theyre useless usually. I had to call them 3 times before they actually sent out a technician to set up service when i moved. They also lied and said i wasnt on a contract and then afterwards when i wanted to change providers they told me i was on a contract and couldnt cancel. I will literally have lengthy calls with them and at the end of the call get no email of confirmation and then be told if i dont get a email confirmation of the call then the call essentially never happened and id have to call again
MethDozer · M
@DarkSideoftheMoon I hear ya. It's one of those industries that is allowed to have zero accountability what so ever.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@MethDozer if it wasnt that my husband loves his sports id just cancel the whole cable/internet bundle and get a no contract wifi from somewhere else
