Does anyone else start to feel annoyed and anxious when they haven't had enough alone time?

Top | New | Old
I definitely do. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, but I also need alone time to "regroup" (recharge the batteries in a sense).
I don’t know if that’s an introvert thing, but it’s always been necessary for me. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard A psychiatrist once told me that I was a "social introvert." I get along fine in groups and at parties, but my "recharge' activity is being alone. (for others, it is the socializing that is the recharge activity.)
@DrWatson Yes, that’s the difference. My best friend is (and my mother was) very extroverted. The more people around, the more animated and lively extroverts seem to become.

@bijouxbroussard the earth is graced by your presence like beauty walks the night. Lifted high on raven wings taking on stunning height

Very much so, yes.
I live alone, I don't socialize & I don't like company so being alone is extremely important to me.
Madmonk · M
@Tumbleweed same. I come here to see how people think then I shrink away when I’ve dug too deep
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Absolutely. I need periods of solitude.

Fortunately, my wife understands that and is happy for me that I can find those times.
@DrWatson I was really lucky my parents understood it (especially my father, also an introvert) and my husband did, too.

I have come to embrace my alone time after years of being deprived. Now that I live alone annoyance comes from being disturbed
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I do. But I am retired and usually have enough alone time now. Had too much doing Covid and chemo and felt too isolated.

I am a borderline introvert. Means i tire even though i seem very talkative in crowded places.

My me time is essential for me to regain sanity.
Madmonk · M
I’m alone but also never alone. It’s hard to explain. I’m sure anyone reading this can understand though
Ducky · 31-35, F
Yep. That's why I first started waking up extra early, around 3-4, to have my me time.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Yes. Iv experienced that. But currently im the opposite. Iv gone insane from years of isolation.

JustEd · 41-45, M
Yep. But there’s rarely enough time for alone time.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Oh yeah. I don't need a TON but I do need it.
MagnumPI · 46-50, M
Dear God yes
Lugwho · 61-69, M
I just feel anxious most of the time
Selah ·
Yeah. Most people are an annoying and extractive presence and I have to recharge.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Absolutely. Like I'm going to explode.
Yes, sometimes dealing with real live people is a pleasant experience. After I can climb back into my hole and disappear
