Have you ever had a cop point a gun at you?

Sometimes I think back on 5 or 6 years ago when I got surrounded by a bunch of cops aiming guns at me. It feels crazy to think back on but somehow I stayed super calm in that situation. I often think about how badly that could've gone especially when I see stuff on the news about another unarmed minority being killed by police.

It's a long story & I don't wanna bore everyone but it was past 5am & I was on my way to pick up groceries for breakfast with a homie. I cut somebody off in traffic by accident so the car started following me. I made a few turns just to make sure I wasn't imagining things but yeah that car was definitely following me. So I pulled over.
A dude hopped out the passenger seat & came up to my window talking shit. He was telling me to get out of the car. I laughed & started opening my door to get out (because younger me was always ready for a fight). He immediately backed down saying, "oh it's like that? Nah fuck that" then he jumped back in the car & took off quick.

I had a bad feeling so instead of going to the store like we planned, I turned around & started heading back home. I saw a cop pass by in front of me & something in my gut told me to hurry up & get home. I didn't wanna speed so I drove casually to my sister's apartment around the corner. I turned into a different parking lot because I just had this feeling a cop was lurking somewhere nearby.

Sure enough, a cop pulled out in front of me as I was exiting the parking lot. He jumped out & halfway ducked behind his SUV door while pointing a gun at me. He started yelling for us to put our hands out of the window so we did. The homie started freaking out but I told him to chill.. we had no guns, no drugs, no alcohol, nothing illegal or incriminating in the car plus we did nothing wrong. I felt calm only because I was confident that we did nothing wrong 🤷

The cop sat there for another minute or two before more cops started pulling up pointing guns at us. In the end there were about 10 cops aiming at us with handguns, a shotgun, & an AR-15.
While I sat there waiting, that same guy I cut off in traffic who tried following me.. he slowly drove by pointing at me while laughing.

The cops approached my car & pulled me out, put me on the ground. Same to the homie. They started questioning if we had a gun on us & I simply said no & told them to search my car. They were like "oh so we have your permission to search your car?" & I said "yeah go ahead" because I knew they wouldn't find anything. They tore my car apart which kinda pissed me off but they eventually came back & told us they found nothing. Then they explained that the reason they stopped us was because someone flagged them down & told them I pulled out a gun on them 🤦 I immediately knew it was that same dumbass who tried following me.

Then the cop said the couple who accused me... Wal Mart has them on video stealing (we were in the Wal Mart parking lot when this happened... Which also explains everything 😂). So the cops were currently placing them under arrest while letting me go. I sooo badly wished I could see that dumbass again so I could point back at him & laugh 😅

It still bugs me that so many cops were basically forming an army against me for nothing but I get it 🤷 I wasn't really mad. I just think back sometimes like "oh shit, one wrong move & they would've killed me" 😶

Yes , my dad's house got busted into by drug enforcement when we were younger my dad was also close friends with a well known motorcycle gang so they came in hot had lasers pointed at all us I was around 12 and my sister 15 and my cousin was around 15 too
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@Beautyinbroken I went through something similar actually. Some Hells Angels dudes showed up to my mom's with a bunch of shotguns & a truck full of pitbulls while I was a teen. They didn't even get to the front door though because my mom stormed out blasting a shotgun. Her ex's father was an ex-president in HA though so she got in touch with them & he made sure our whole family was safe.

I've had guns aimed at me many times but only once by cops.. that almost seems more crazy in my opinion

@ChiefJustWalks one of our neighbors held meetings at his house so we had a bunch of them pull up at the house with only us girls home scared the hell out of us
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Yes on several occasions I've had cops manufactured cases against me too when there was really nothing there

I was a cop and had cops point their guns at me. It is usually very tense when dealing with potentially armed subjects.
bowman81 · M
@ChiefJustWalks I was in plain clothes and armed. They didn't get the word that I was responding. It was tense until we got it straightened out.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@bowman81 damn man that's scary. What state do you live in? I live in Arizona so I've been openly armed in front of cops plenty of times. Just never had my gun drawn in front of them

Yep, one night almost 5 years ago. A Deputy that was looking for a stolen vehicle of my make and model was behind me and happened to run my plate, and he typed in the wrong letter and it came back as stolen. That one tiny mistake resulted in the scariest moment of my life.

Scary!!

I had 2 border guards aim their guns at me once, that was scary enough.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@SW-User wtf did they do that for? 😮
Strongtea · 22-25, M
No, only special teams carry them in the UK. I have been stopped at night, on a busy street by undercover police who thought I had a knife. I had put a CD case in an inside jacket pocket, they thought I was concealing a weapon. It was pretty scary.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Haha yeah. I think I remember saying this on another one of your threads but I was with some friends in high school and one of them was getting into it with another or something like that, I had to drive somewhere and there was an argument. We left and they called the cops telling them we had guns and we threatened them, or that one person had one at least.

Well they were lying but the police didn't know that and they stopped my car, pointed a gun and said hands up. Wasn't sure what was going on, I was just sitting there until someone looked at me and told me to put my hand up.

We all had to get out of the car and lay down on the ground. But they didn't find anything lol.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@SatanBurger I actually sorta remember you telling me that but yeah I don't remember what post it was on. That's crazy though 😶 scary
No, and if they ever do, I will comply and live to fight another day, with MY gun on MY turf, and on MY terms.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@NoThanksLeon yeah that's why I complied. I've seen so many people catch an attitude, create an issue, lean into it, & that never goes well. When it comes to cops I just stay polite & avoid incriminating myself or anybody else
@ChiefJustWalks When you fight on someone else's terms and turf, that's how you lose.

Wait a minute...

Why would someone who was shoplifting in Walmart be flagging down cops?!

You were "swatted".....

Actually, quite common these days....
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@Threepio common? 🤔 That's interesting because I don't know very many people who have gone through the same 😅 unless they had a real reason & actually got arrested
@ChiefJustWalks Yep...fairly common, especially when very well-known people are the victims. (Actors, politicians, etc...)

I went to Vegas and was in a taxi and the car beside us pulled a gun on us. Scariest moment ever
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@Jenny1234 I imagine that's gotta be scary. I never got too scared maybe because I was too used to it or I just never believed they would pull the trigger... But looking back I know I was dumb for thinking that way
foldedunfolding · 41-45, F
yeah and if your friend had made a wrong move too..total total bs..im so sorry. but yeah that poetic point justiceeeee thoooo 😫😫😫

@ChiefJustWalks oh for sure..bc he essentially S.W.A.T-ted you! which, to me, is actually a form of attempted murder!

@ChiefJustWalks I ended up getting arrested because I had works on me, and it ended up being a municipal charge so I didn't get a lawyer or anything, but I probably should have because I assume any competent lawyer would be like "the fuck is this?"
