My father played this and asked us what language it was. 😆 We didn't know. (It's our native language)

@CrazyMusicLover Slovakian ? Cool ! 😊
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@bijouxbroussard He played it at low volume and I remember that I asked if it was something Arabic. 🙈😅

You said obscure and childhood...

I couldn't find anywhere that did it like my Mom taught me, but the simple song is posted below, except they say "clapping" where I'm used to saying "laughing" instead.

But my Mom's version is that every time you sang it, you had to sing it faster, and faster, and faster...

And when you were going super fast, it would song like it's bubbling (which the song is about bubbling), and you'd keep going until you couldn't keep up anymore or someone yelled and said that's enough lol

Weird. Yet loved the show 🧙🏻‍♂

[media=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kfEF-u16umg]

First time I heard a Theremin as a kid, which for that time was a weird musical instrument in 1966.

Yes the original Star trek had a Theremin yet it wasn't obvious.

Thinking about this, may account for why I like odd types of musical instruments. I really loved this show. 🙃
@DeWayfarer I always wondered what that particular musical effect was called. I do remember it from Star Trek and thought it was a woman’s voice.

The one from Dark Shadows always gave me goosebumps, as did the one from Harry Lubin in "One Step Beyond":

@DeWayfarer The theremin was used a great deal in the soundtrack for s-f classic FORBIDDEN PLANET. I have one in the basement, never really learned to play it.

This one! It was released in '78 i believe, but it was a coulple of years later i discovered it....i was about 13 i guess! How very strange it is!
The radio edit doesn't have a long intro like the video...... i only found the video a few years ago!
Enjoy!

@RubySoo Omg, I remember this ! It used to crack us up when my siblings and I first saw it on MTV. 😄

I was fortunate to grow up in a musical household which featured Incredible String Band songs and the underlying messages of hippie surrealism and,in this case-reincarnation.

I'm sure I had a special dance to go along with this favorite tune and probably a neat little hat of some sort.

I was in the Cub Scouts all the way up to venturers. It was usually a 3 to 4 hour trip to any of the camps. We sung a lot of songs along the way. Most from a campfire song book that was printed in the 30's.

When I was about 11 we rented our house out to a drag artist for the summer season. His son was a Krishna head and he left behind an LP. This track mesmerised me ;

@LegendofPeza Very profound lyrics.
This hit the charrs when I was 8 or 9, still love it, not all that obscure though. [media=https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvk08pNwx9U&feature=shared]
@bijouxbroussard It's a song called One Step Beyond, by a band called Madness.
@Mindfulness I know that song—and I love the group. 😃
@Mindfulness @bijouxbroussard This version might play in the US. I was going to post it under the Harry Lubin "One Step Beyond" but it's better here!

I think your love of words was evident even then :D

Here's my weird song.

Songs by Homer and Jethro: "Waterloo" and "They Laid Him in the Ground" were two of my favorites.

This came out in 72 when I was 13.
It was the follow up to Nilsson Schmilsson

@Pfuzylogic I loved Nilsson. 😊

Horror Movie - Skyhooks
Released 50 years ago, it scared me so much as a child. I thought there were boogie men under my bed.
I would pull the blankets over me so there was no bare skin exposed.
