@Lostpoet my brother did that but I saved him lucky 🍀
Lostpoet · M
@Lisaandchestnut You're a good sister.. I was able to kick at the bottom of the pool and then grab on to the side railings. I stayed their until my one brother told the life guard that I couldn't swim and the life guard made me go back to the shallow end of the pool.
That brother actually saved a little girl from drowning in the same pool and got an award for it, so I guess that makes up for him being a dick to me and telling the life guard.

For Christmas, when I was in sixth grade, my parents gave me a motorcycle. There was a massive snowstorm in Christmas Eve, but the next morning I still tried to ride the motorcycle in the yard in about 18” of snow.

Sitting alone on my bed crying my heart out just after my parents had left me at boarding school for the firat time 😭
chrisCA · M
@SunshineGirl Who has children, and then dumps them off at a school like that? It sounds like something out of a Dickens's novel.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@chrisCA My parents were both on active service in the navy, so it was the best solution. But still very painful at the time.

I was 5 years old, taking a bath.
The door was open, and my mother was in the next room.
I decided it would be fun to blow bubbles under the water and I choked.
There was only 4-6 inches of water in the tub but it does not require much water to drown.
I had a near death experience. I was face down in the bathtub, but I could see myself in the tub, and see my mother scream when she walked into the bathroom.
The next thing I remember is laying on the couch in the den with my mother, father, and an ambulance attendant watching over me.
I spent a week in the hospital with my head under a tent, providing fresh air.
It was a close call.

@SW-User oh my God that's awful. Your comment reminds me of a story of someone named Clark Fredericks. Idk if you're familiar but you should check out his story. I hope whoever it was has received justice by now.

I was two years old. Some folks would say I can't remember that far back, but what do they know?
Parts of this have been filled in for me, because I had no actual comprehension of what had happened, but my parents had just adopted me, and took me to a park to celebrate. Mom and I were on the teeter-totter, and there was a jagged edge. I cut my hand, and blood immediately came out. Instead of crying, I just said the word blood.

Folks try to tell me you don't remember anything from when you were two years old, but I do.
My parents had just adopted me, and they took me to a park to celebrate. Mom played with me on the teeter-totter, and I was having a great time until I bonked my nose on the handle and started bleeding. The first word I remember saying came then:
"Blood!"

@RogueLoner wtf man why would he do that 🙃

@astrosandorbits Two reasons. He hated their long hair and "oogga boogga jungle music" ...and... it was HIS TV.
Fathers were different back then. THEY were in charge.
