This was hardcore promoted by boomers too. I have this complex about rushing and getting things done super efficiently and going non-stop. It has ruined my body. I happily don't see the younger generations behaving this way.
I feel as long as we don't become slovenly we're doing good.

@ScreamingFox Exactly!
Are you living in a landfill?
Are your clothes walking on their own?
Is your fridge full of rotting food?
Does your home look like the worst episode of "Hoarders"?
If you can answer no to any of those, you're good! Why add needless guilt to your life?

@FoxyQueen 🤔i rather disagree a little with you in some ways but agree on others
you are correct we are not machines you can work twenty four seven we need leisure time
maybe the expression lazy is used loosely for those who cannot find work due fault of there own due to circumstance
but on the downside those who are committed in a job maybe should not shirk responsibility it brings

Why would this be considered lazy?
Is doing their job description and nothing else shirking responsibility when they are doing exactly what they agreed to upon employment?

I was brought in to lead a team which was considered lazy and set in its ways. It was where time ran slow. There was little motivation to improve, even though the results were poor.
I changed the work that they were following, to work with shorter deadlines than two years, in fact ten weeks. They suddenly became very competitive comparing each others results.
As things developed, I did away with Faculty meetings, giving the time over to INSET. The work was farmed out, each taking a topic, providing INSET giving tasks to try out before the next Faculty meeting. They helped and inspired each other.

I believe in a balance between productivity and leisure. I like the Buddha's dream (I could be getting this wrong) of a guitar player recieving teaching from his mentor and was told "if the strings are too tight, they will break, if the strings are too loose, they cannot play"

It's people who are lazy on the job that I have a problem with. They are paid for doing nothing while someone else has to pick up the slack. But yes relaxing is a good thing
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
@Cloud7593 Are they lazy, or have they figured out how to manipulate situations and things to get other people to do their work?
Also, the fact that people do the work instead of letting the guy who's figured out how to manipulate things for their benefit take the fall means they won't stop because there's no repercussions.
Maybe people should stop doing that work and move on. If asked why it wasn't done, you can simply say that wasn't assigned to me. 🤷♀
We have ways to remove ourselves from people who are coasting, but we don't. Also, the person isn't lazy. They're quite skilled at getting other people to do their work. They are managment material.

This is wonderful, thank you for writing and posting it!
I think one of my favorite things about living alone is the freedom from having to justify to anyone why I'm not doing anything productive at the moment. This shit is ingrained so deep... ugh!
