Which decade of your life was/is the best?

Why?
Matt85 · 36-40, M
When she was in my life. Married with kids now.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@Matt85 if you don't mind me asking... what happened with her?
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@astrosandorbits Not at all. She got a bit sick of me and things were moving too fast for her....Marylin Manson released his cover of Tainted Love about the time we broke up and she loved that song. It basically summed up how she felt about me. She was 16, I was 17.

In terms of decades? Kinda tough....

3 come to mind..

10 - 20. Childhood, then I started hooking and getting into drink and drugs. Those early days 14-20. I also got married too...and had a daughter. Lots packed in there.

Then, 40-50. Got back with my ex, got married in one of the first lesbian marriages and we had a daughter together.

50 + (I'm 54). Happy, content. Living my best life. Still married. Still hooking. No drugs. Having an accepting family an environment.

🥰

@SammyJo im curious... did your 20s and 30s not turn out quite as well then?
SammyJo · 51-55, F
@astrosandorbits Hmmmmm....brief snapshot. So, got married at 18....divorced after I was 20. Hubby found out I hooked. I was working for a pimp at that time. He took my daughter away, I fell further down the drug and alcohol hole, met my now-wife in my later 20's..... so not my finest moments...

30's? Still with my now-wife but we split due to my drug usage, my peers and both our jealousies of the other....so...losing my soulmate? Not my fav time either.

Thankfully re-connected in my 40's and I'd got myself mostly clean of drugs....so that's why it's one of the better decades.

🥰

I would actually say now. I can do things that I want to do now and not have someone trying to control me or tell me what to do and ask me when I'll be back home. Of course, I finally left, but I should have left sooner. He was a narcissist.

My late 20s to my early 30s. Met the love of my life. I was in my physical prime. Travelled a lot. Had a great job I was good at and enjoyed. Both my parents were alive. After age 36 the sh!t had hit the fan (after my parents started to get sick and ultimately died). Lost the love of my life. The family started to disintegrate. Got married but it’s very stressful. Work is stressful too. Also I started to care for a vulnerable adult at home so….
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@DoubleRings aww I'm sorry to hear that things came crumbling down for you. I hope things get better for you
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
My 20’s and 30’ - Just finished grad school. Was in the absolute best shape of my life. Had a job that was challenging but, engaging and unlike any other. I was newly married and was still naive enough to believe in true love and that it would last forever. The world was filled with promise.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@blackarcher256 you're not the only one to say this about once believing in true love. Now that you are older how have things changed for you? Does the world still seem full of promise?
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
@astrosandorbits I divorced after 32 years of marriage. The last 10 of that was entirely sexless, completely devoid of any physical intimacy or warmth. But I’m free…it’s been a lonely road at times…but I’m feeling my way along…coming alive again….experiencing joy that hasn’t been present in my life for a very long time. But no, the world doesn’t seem to hold that promise that it did in my 20’s and 30’s.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
My 20s because it was the first decade in my hands and I can't blame how I lived it on anyone else. I spent it more or less the way I wanted to. Not saying it was much but those were my decisions.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@CrazyMusicLover i really like this answer. Im 29 going into 30 next year... i feel odd about it coming 😅the first half of my 20s were so eventful and fun. Second half calmed down a lot more as i became more mature. But in scared of getting old and turning 30 soon is scaring me 🤣
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@astrosandorbits I spent most of my 20s at home. I could have traveled or what not but I didn't because I was scared to travel on my own and I also didn't want to work extra hard to earn money for that. If I regret it? Nah, there's still time to catch up and do it with less anxiety and fear that I'd end up kidnapped into some brothel. 😆
Unless your body fails you and you develop some limiting disease, 30s are mostly what you make of them. And then 40s, 50s etc. It's just sometimes awkward when you decide to do something that most people do as teens/early 20s and what requires spending time in a group. Like doing a driving course. I did it at 29, I wasn't the oldest there but 90% were people aged 17-25, so if you have something to catch up with, there could be situations like that...
WillaKissing · 56-60
1980 to 1990. entered High school 1980 graduated 1984 and entered the Army 1990 was my third re-enlistment and I was just enjoying life as a single 24-year-old.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@WillaKissing god i bet growing up in the 80s wouldve been so tight. My parents graduated highschool about the same time as you and they always had great things to say about life in the 80s
WillaKissing · 56-60
@astrosandorbits It was the best, I think.
being · 36-40, F
I've had a complicated life so nowadays it begins to smoothen, I'd still pick my childhood, despite events, my child energy, I loved that
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@being isn't it interesting? Reflecting, now as an adult, on what you were once like as a child? So full of creativity and imagination? Crazy how things change so much as we get older
deadteddy · 26-30, F
My 20’s for sure. I did a lot , traveled a lot, worked many jobs, met many people.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@deadteddy im 29 and my 20s have been interesting. The first half was filled with so many great and crazy memories... i was always doing something. The second half has been a lot different... things mellowed out more and i grew up a lot at 25. 30s seem exciting but I'm scared also🤣
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
Hopefully the next one hahaha
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M

MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F

Iwillwait · M

astrosandorbits · 26-30, M

Ferric67 · M

Lilymoon · F
90's good times
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@Lilymoon i was only alive 5 years in the 90s... but man it seemed so chill back then. I wish i got to grew up in the 90s
itsok · 31-35, F
The current decade
20’s when I was careless and extravagant, working and having fun at the same time, late night parties ,catching up with friends, busy schedules but it was a great decade.Made a lot of memories..
NotMy1stRodeo · 56-60, M
my 30s .. most of the best stuff happened then .. but there is some time ahead of me that might offer more freedom to live for me /as I choose
80's ....lived my teenaged years then. music/concert scene was great and happy/healthy times family wise.
Whichever one I'm in right now. I've survived the others leading up to it.
The next. Because you will still be alive, so always the next.
Now and latter.. cause I'm happy
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Free beer tomorrow.

Teens to 20s
The now decade
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
0-9 years old... that's when I had the most optimism before it was crushed out of me
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@pancakeslam kindve crazy... im tempted to say the same. There are many things about childhood that i dont miss... but there are also many things i do miss. One of them being creativity/imagination. Children seem to have more powerful imaginations
