Has this ever happened to you?

Your sitting in your recliner at night watching TV and you catch yourself dozing off so you decide to go to bed. Then once you get in bed you are all of a sudden wide awake and can't sleep.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F Best Comment
Often. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@Musicman go on SM or listen to YouTube and try to get to sleep only to usually be awake until 2 or 3. 😕
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Jeephikelove I do the same thing.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@Musicman thank you for BC

Blondily · F
Happens every night!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Blondily So what do you do?
Blondily · F
@Musicman I go to bed and make my mind go blank which helps. Plus I take two magnesium glycinate and calcium which helps.
Ontheroad · M
Do you mean like last night? Yeah, so I read for an hour or so and drifted off.

When this happens I read. It keeps me from thinking I need to go to sleep, which keeps me awake😁
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Ontheroad For me, I usually play on SW. I really hate when that happens though. We need our sleep.
Ontheroad · M
@Musicman I reserve playing on SW at night... keeps me awake. I save that for when I wake up at 3 and feel wide awake. Usually, it's so dead at that time I don't stay on and just go clean the house or something equally as exciting.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Ontheroad I have done that too. After a couple of hours of sleep I just wake up feeling like I slept all night. Then I get up and go log in too. I definitely agree with you. SW is super slow at night.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Yeah a lot. I doze off in my recliner after and wake up and do the dishes etc and then lay down to sleep and can’t and stay awake while everyone else is sleeping.
Jemimapuddleduck · 31-35, F
I have had hot chocolate, hot milk, chamomile tea - and found it doesn't help when it comes to sleeping it. Either I'm still awake when I get into bed, or I sleep for a couple of hours or so and then wake up unable to get back to sleep.
I finally go downstairs and make myself a cup of tea and then I find I feel a little more relaxed even though it has caffeine in it. Reading a book does help me to nod off though.
ArtieKat · M
@Jemimapuddleduck Hot chocolate has caffeine in it too. A friend of mine is very sensitive to it.
Jemimapuddleduck · 31-35, F
@ArtieKat Yes it does, and it's odd these are supposed to be bedtime drinks. But then it's the chocolate that just feels so comforting to drink!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Jemimapuddleduck That is very good advice. Thank you very much.
Gusman · 61-69, M
This is why I have my tv in the bedroom. When I get tired watching all I have to do is push a button. TV off, Imma sleep,
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Gusman Now that is a smart idea.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M

Musicman · 61-69, M
@Cigarguy101 God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Musicman it's been a struggle for me to sleep for years.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Just move the bed to the living room
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth Genius! I love it! 🙂🙂🙂
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Yes, and now I am awake at 1.15am
Musicman · 61-69, M
@nedkelly I am so sorry. 😢 At least we are here to keep you company. 🙂
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
This is my father in a nutshell. He's been like that for years. He keeps falling asleep throughout the whole evening in his armchair, then either stays there or goes to bed and wakes up around 3-4 AM and sleeps in the morning again.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@CrazyMusicLover God bless him 🙏🙏🙏
HannahSky · F
Stay in the chair
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HannahSky I have considered that.
exexec · 61-69, C
That is my wife's experience. She gives up and goes back to her recliner, only to find that our beagle has claimed it for the night. So she has to drag the dog out of the chair. By then she is wide awake and has to watch Law & Orser episodes until she falls asleep.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@exexec I definitely understand and feel for her. ☹️
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I am exhausted by the end of the day and could fall asleep standing up. But once I'm done being mom and I have a moment to myself to lay down my mind starts racing with the stuff I can't get done. I get wired.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@AlchemyFox I am sorry to hear that, but I definitely understand the mind racing part.

A similar thing happened to me the other night, well just an aspect of it, i was reading on my side in bed the beginning of Romeo and Juliet and i dids't for a moment doze off!!!
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
No, I usually fall asleep and my wife wakes me up to go to bed because I look uncomfortable. Then I'm up all-night tossing and turning because I'm uncomfortable. 😅
Musicman · 61-69, M
@maskedbandit Isn't that the worst. 😢
perceptivei · 36-40, F
Every night? Generally, 5 out of 7 nights.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@perceptivei I am so sorry to hear that 😢😢😢 Have you tried taking melatonin?
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Musicman Yes. I took it last night. It makes me too tired in the mornings due the work week though.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@perceptivei Some days it just seems like we can't win. ☹️☹️☹️
Rarely I fall asleep on my couch while watching tv. I work shifts so I am tired a lot. I get up. Ho to bed. And sleep more. I lead an active life.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@PoetryNEmotion Good for you 🙂🙂🙂

I've never owned a recliner...but I ordered one for the place we're moving to in a few months. So....I'm going to have to wait and see.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Nah, I’m like a golden retriever. My head hits the pillow and I’m out in minutes.

@Musicman I can’t sleep very long in a recliner. Stay in bed. Sometimes listen to the radio.

It’s because YOU BROKE THE SLEEP B BIBLE YEEEEE HAWWWWW
swirlie · 31-35, F
What I do, is tell myself as I sit there tired and feeling like crap that it's time to get up anyway because I have to pack a suitcase for business trip and I have to hurry up and get my butt out to the airport, despite only having about an hour's sleep in the recliner. After I pull my suitcase out of the closet, I sit back down on the recliner just for a quick minute ...and before I know it, it's morning already and I awake feeling refreshed and ready to start my day! 🌼

Then I put my suitcase back in the closet and give it a good kick and whisper to it softly, "Ha Ha! Fooled you again!".
Musicman · 61-69, M
@swirlie Lol!!! 😂 I love it! 😂😂😂
Musicman · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 How do you deal with it?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 That works too.
