Why do I get anxiety in an argument?

I notice whenever I get an argument, which I try not to be. Be it on the internet with a random person or with a person I know. I get anxiety like I'm being attacked. Why does this happen to me? Is it normal?

What is 'normal' anyway? ;) Always remember that every experience in your life is helping you to become a better person. When people get arguments, it means one of them doesn't understand the point of views of the other person so it needs to be explained better so that there's understanding. We all have different point of views, and people easy jump to making conclusions. People tend to do that too easy. It's ok to feel anxiety during arguments as it, to me, means you're afraid of not being understood. Or loved. Or accepted for who you are and what you believe in (I don't mean faith, I just mean all your perceptions about any random subject). The thing is that we all have to learn in life to be stronger and not to care about what other people think about us, and to have faith in ourselves. Self confidence will grow with the years so your anxiety will fade. Consider it a learning process. A very slow one.

its normal, and it goes away in time.

I've always had that issue though

So did I..and trust me I overcame it in time.
For me the same thing happens based on past experiences. Maybe something like that could be a cause for u? Either way tho keep fighting and stay strong. Anxiety sucks but we believe in u :)

I think you'll grow out of it. I used to be the same way, very badly.

I feel like I would have grown out of anything at this age.

@JaneDoe: nah, the brain is just finishing developing now
Healthy arguments always adds to any personality. Perhaps you'd be able to perform much better by acquiring more factual information and confidence in self and the subject of argument.

Bests.👍

Maybe I've never known enough about whatever I had to argue about, Usually when I know I don't know anything about something I stop myself from talking about it, good example: I stay away from politics, I just don't know anything about them, I don't understand it, can't talk about it. It's hard staying away from arguments though, because sometimes if you don't people just walk over you.

That isn't an option. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and what's right. The other option is be a doormat.
