I have been advised to block incomplete profiles/accounts here

The person advocating for this has said that it doesn’t take much to complete the process of having avatars and posts, that if anonymity is the only concern for the users there is nothing to being able to give others things to talk about and to use a cartoon character, or some abstract art or image to make an avatar.

She says that she immediately blocks anyone who adds her with nothing to their profile and no contact of any sort.

What do you think?

The only users I have blocked are the AI chatbots. I don't interact with blank, incomplete profiles. It's their choice to have their profile the way they have it. Blocking someone just because their profile is blank seems a bit much.
I can understand that person’s point, but I don’t waste a block on that alone. I don’t add them back, but I don’t block them, either, unless they become abusive or post rude content.

I see where she's coming from. Then again, I recently rejoined here and have no posts yet, although I have been commenting. And I am a nice person 😌

100% agree. If you sign up for premium here you can see who visits your profile. I block anyone who visits who has an incomplete profile. I assume this is an alt account that is spying on me.
I think that sounds reasonable. When people contact me that seem to be new or not, but have absolutely no posts submitted, I get suspicious. No friends, no contacts, seems strange.

i get a LOT of those. i am sure it is people spying. i check to see how many times they view my profile then block. and they also know my schedule and that i am not on over the weekend...fake profiles.

@akindheart How do you do that?

@akindheart

Thanks. Sounds like a good reason for a VIP account which I don't have.

I personally am suspicious of people who do not put their age or gender, you need to just think for yourself ???
@Ramrod How is that not thinking for oneself ? It is a fact that both age and gender can make one a target for unwanted attention online. Say a person’s just here for conversation; just discussing ideas, not looking for a date or sex chat. How is their age or gender really relevant then ? 🤔

@bijouxbroussard You have your views and i have mine,it has nothing to do with dating or sex,i want to know who im talking to,man, women and what age plain and simple.
@Ramrod That’s true; you have the right to interact with whomever you choose. Your reasons for being here are your own. This is so for everyone .

I was merely observing that people have legitimate reasons for being selective about what info they post; it certainly doesn’t mean they’re not thinking for themselves.

I also think that in some fashion, new users are encouraged to seek out the profiles of the like-minded. So it may be a legitimate viewing.
Sometimes people come here and they never come back again. And some people delete everything in there profile and stick around only to message known people here.

My reaction to empty profiles is that if you don’t want anyone to know you, then why are you here? It makes no sense.

Akimbo75 · 46-50, F
It does seem pretty sensible.

You do that ull use up ur 500 blocks right away
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
It becomes obvious that the profile is empty very quickly and if it adds you it likely has very self centered goals that may be annoying to you or worse.
