You think with all that robust social programs and policies they’d be ZERO homeless 🤔

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout It's impossible to eliminate homeless people once for all.By increasing many jobs and benefits, there will be less and less, maybe.

@shaoyun66654 need affordable housing. Single room boarding homes were used by a lot of single people up until the 80’s when city councils outlawed them across the country in large cities so that they could be replaced by expensive condos. That is when homelessness started increasing in the USA for the working poor

NYC is dealing with the homeless a LOT better than Los Angeles. Typhoid fever has made a comeback here and a worker at City Hall was recently bitten by an infected rat.

@Grateful4you And definitely better than Chicago.

I don't think those photos are representative of the current or normal everyday condition of the NYC subways. Have taken the subways for many years for work prior to the pandemic and not seen what's depicted in those photos. That being said, the homeless crisis has gotten worse over the years. Hopefully a new mayor next year will bring a new administration with fresh ideas on how to improve things.

Crime on the streets and the shelters

What the world needs is for its richest people to use their money to build homes for those less fortunate. That would save homeless people sleeping in disused railways. It's a common suggestion when people ask the question "What would you do if you won the lottery?".

@MonaLisa86 In the United States, the underground railway system is in operation around the clock,7 days a week. It's like a park, but better than a park because weather won't disturb them forever. Is this a good explaination?
