Addiction interferes with your life
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
addictions have a tendency to draw us away from other aspects of life that we also like, makes us neglect them. things that we merely like but are not addicted to do not affect our enjoyment of other things. EX: one might like lasagna but this doesn't overshadow his love of strawberries or vegetable soup. on the other hand, chocolate, cake, fat foods, potato chips, foods that are considered more "addictive" draw us away from healthy foods and eventually makes them seem uninteresting, making us think that what we truly want are these "bad" foods and even making us think that freedom=indulgence, the same reasoning you find in cigarette addicts who justify their behavior by saying things like "you have to die of something" and " I don't want to stop enjoying the things I love" as if not smoking was some kind of penance when in fact its the complete opposite, smoking prevents you from enjoying health, wellbeing, exercise, sports, smells, tastes and ultimately enjoying all of life for as long as we can.

@reflectingmonkey Great answer. Although a good friend of mine was a smoker in high school and ran cross-country in track. I do get your point though. Thanks.

See if you can a few days or a week without it and if not maybe addicted.

Addiction is if used frequently and like is if used once in a while. So I love Pepsi Max. But I only drink one can once a month. If I don't get a can no problem. I just wait for it.

Quit and see how much you think about it. The answer should be obvious
Argile3000 · 26-30, C
@cultofaction You would think so.
cultofaction · 26-30, M
@Argile3000 If at that point you still can't make up your mind, flip a coin.

I like the way you think.

I think when it starts to control your life, it's going to be a lot more than just 'liking'. Or in other words when you keep on thinking about it and you go become hysteric when you can't be without it for even just one day... Then I think it's addiction, in my opinion..

Stay away one day from it and you'll know.
