How can you tell if you are adicted to something or just like it?

I am not talking about drugs or alcohol. Just things in life.

I think when it starts to control your life, it's going to be a lot more than just 'liking'. Or in other words when you keep on thinking about it and you go become hysteric when you can't be without it for even just one day... Then I think it's addiction, in my opinion..
