Why do your teachers hate you? What are the lines for? Why do you get detentions?

When my kids were in school, I made sure the teachers knew, especially in winter when it gets dark so early, my kids couldn't get after school detentions. Lunch time detentions only. And they had to get it the following day as my kids came home for lunch, so if they were getting detention they would need a lunch. And no lines. If they need to be punished, they had to have something that would at least be productive. Math or English writing assignments or read book and rewrite it I their own words so they could show they had actually read and understood it. They learned from that. Lines are wasted time. I think it teaches nothing, except rebellion.

I don't know they think I'm really naughty but I aint I just talk a bit too much sometimes that's all! Usually for disrupting the learning of the class or being late.

Wish my mammy would tell school I couldn't do detention but she won't!! :(

Silmarilion, yikes. I am afraid you could be right about many of them, but I have met some teachers who are nothing like that. Thank goodness that some kids have at least one or two years of learning that aren't oppressive.

Serenitree, Glad you understand and don't just think I'm naughty, I aint going for no morning runs tho forget that!! lol

I got into a lot of trouble for babbling in class too. People don't seem to understand that it is nervous energy that causes us to babble when we shouldn't. I still do it in those kinds of situations. It is why I avoid meetings of all kinds. I can't sit still and stay quiet. I understand that you aren't deliberately disruptive, but still it is disruptive. So, what do you think might help you discharge some of that nervous energy before you get to school? Maybe a morning run?

hannahr I got put over a teachers knee at infant schooi an my short trousers pulled down and my bottom smacked on my underwear and at senior school I got my bottom spanked by twice by male teachers on the seat of my trousers in a stood position [ it still hurt and brought tears to my eyes on both occasions ] these all happened in the seventies in a English school so it was not an uncommon event consider yourself really lucky nowadays that corporal punishment is banned in schools

I do no know who the comment was aimed at [ perhaps paranoid on my part] but I have no hidden agendas trust me I have had a lot of baggage from my schooldays which I have never spoke about before and since I have joined experience project and now similar worlds I am grateful it has allowed me to finally open up about issues from my past my problem is I bottle things up and find discussing bad things that have happened too me hard

I'm in England, are you Irish by any chance? We used to not tell our parents if we were in trouble at school, because it would mean more trouble at home!

serenitree do not mind me asking but where you and this boy punished in exactly the same manner as I was as I can still see in in my mind even though this happened to me in 1970 the female teacher who did this too me is no longer with us but every time I saw her as an adult I thought about it granted I had no animosity towards her I deserved it think I pissed her off with producing bad work

I had it the same all though school, I had many spankings in grade school, yes it was legal back then, Daily detentions, sent home quite a bit, I kinda found out later in life that some teachers look down at people who are not in the same social class as themselves, I was forced to be a loner in my schools only had a few friend. please if you need to talk, i'm here for you

Smiler, it wasn't aimed at you. I warn so many kids. And it isnt aimed at anyone in particular. Well maybe one, but he doesnt seem interested in the kids. He seems to be more interested in the 22-25 age ladies. And really, they are legal and hopefully will watch out.

The closer we get to private messages, the more i worry about kids. My warnings aren always this blatant, but private messages are getting close. I worry.

Not you. Not anyone. Just kids tend to trust. I feel adults have influence. Even the females aren't always who they pretend to be. I dont PM with minors. I prefer to keep it in the public forum. That's just me. I warn my grandkids and great grandkids too. And i will continue to do so. Not personal against any one person. Anymore than telling kids not to get into cars with people

I got into trouble alot at school

They probably don't hate you, but they have to be seen to enforce rules. Once you get a reputation it's difficult to avoid being noticed 🙄 What do you usually get into trouble for?

I was at school where you got punishments of different sorts I only got lines at senior school off a prefect for giving him lip cannot remember ever getting detention as physical punishment was all the rage then so you learned a painful lesson in another fashion

Smiler. I had only one teacher who ever did things like you describe. I was never aware of social classes. But that one teacher took great delight in humiliating me and one boy in the class.

Smiler, what physical punishments did you used to get? Would you rather have had them than long punishments like lines and detentions?

we usually take her I pad away and if she is worse we spanker her and send her to bed early she always tries to blame her sister for it

my oldest daughter always gets in trouble me and her mom always gets letters sent home

I don't know I aint really a morning person so by time I get up and put my make up on its usually time to go!
