Did you learn to read before you were old enough to attend school?

If so, how did it affect your early years in school?

Yes my Mom had me reading before the age of 5, hadnt started school.yet but it.helped me immensely to learn at such an early age.

I developed a love for reading and I lived in that great world that only a dedicated reader can see.

From birth, my biological mother, in my fathers absence ( military deployment) stressed zero educational development for my sister and I.

She abandoned us when we were five.

Through involvement with a live in " nanny" and then the presence of my fathers second wife; whom is my mom always..... we were both home schooled till we reached 12th grade.

My sister and I both graduated at high school at age 15.

Tho' I didn't read well untill around age 7, I've a
deep passion for books as well as the English and French language.

Yes I learned at 4 before I began kindergarten. Haven’t stopped reading since. I’m never without a book.
Yes, I taught myself at 4. It didn't really effect anything with school honestly. 🤷🏾

Yes I was reading at almost an 8th grade level prior to kindergarten. My parents are educators and psychologists
Not well, this I remember. I believe it was in grade one I read the word "city" out loud for the teacher but pronounced it as kitty.

Yes, read and write.
DarthInvader · 36-40, M
Nope. I was slow to pick up reading. My mother would hit me for it.

Yes. In my situation, you would be foolish to rely solely on public education if you wanted any chance in life. Most of the fundamentals were taught at home.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
Who remembers that?
@Ferise1 Some people.🤷‍♂
