This would show the complete breakdown of trust between students and teachers. Very few parents doubted the word of the school when I was teaching and those who did had very low expectations of behaviour anyway and excused all sorts of nonsense. I wonder how many teachers are being 'spied on' by kids taking surreptitious vids for later mockery or worse on their anti-social media sites later in the day?
Most students and teachers get on really well and this creeping surveillance on all of us is not good.

In some schools they should. I know someone who worked at the lowest rated high school in Oklahoma City and the students were something else. Their parents were usually no better. It’s a very big risk working in class rooms like that when they act out every day. Tempers and fights are common even here.

I heard they replaced the walls of the classrooms with glass in my old school, so everyone can see what everyone else is doing. Body cams would have been more cost effective.. You know how many school windows we broke when I was a kid?

@Thevy29 They built 3 underground (earth-sheltered) schools here in the late 60’s and there were no interior walls between the classrooms, just partitions about 6 feet high. The students and classes had to keep their voices down that way and there was carpeting on the floors to help absorb sound and the partitions had some sound-absorbing quality too. If there had been any incidents in classrooms the principal would have been alerted quickly.

No, not unless there is a really good reason, like the teacher feeling in physical danger.
How would you feel if you were routinely monitored in your workplace like this? It breaks down trust and respect.

@MasterLee Or let's just keep politics out of childhood education.
rob19 · M
@SunshineGirl It might be better but there's still a lot of room for improvement. The headteacher of a nearby school left a few months ago following an allegation of impropriety. A teacher at another school in a nearby town is now under suspicion. Cameras could provide valuable evidence to help confirm or deny the allegations.

@SunshineGirl I agree. That was my point exactly.

In some cases the parents are just as bad as the kids.
I had a teacher tell me once that she had to talk to the parents of a student who was bullying another student, and the father seemed to think it was funny.

Not a bad idea in todays climate, keeps everyone honest as well as being creepy, but it's the world we live in

It’s sad what this world has come to.
Why not, the teachers need to be kept in line too

They would show how teachers treat the students too.

Liberals love the surveillance state. Sounds great. Every public school has nothing to hide.
