I don't like it. I have my reasons being surrounded by the type. You don't even have to be dating them for them to try to control you.

I like being trusted. My partner is as possessive as I am but doesn't really tell me who to befriend, what to wear.. etc we have relaxed relationship. The possessiveness is expressed through extra affection.

However, I don't think it is bad if it works out for you. It is all about compatibility.

It’s a very dangerous thing to love. Jealousy like that tends to escalate and can be deadly, as it has been for countless people. Nothing healthy about it.

I tuned out as soon as you said middle eastern. Most I’ve met dress like slobs, are cheap and act desperate around women. Add demanding to that and you’ve got yourself a real winner.

Protective and flattering aren’t adjectives I’d use.

Protective = Controlling
Flattering = Lack of self-respect
