If you are Christian, then the primacy of Christ over other human voices has to be true. So the reports of His Life are the touchstone.
Start with the Gospels.

Biblical discipline is to live your in a righteous, godly, goodly fashion.
To choose that which is right over that which is not.
It is not referring to disciplinary actions, such as whippings.

I believe the majority of Christians try to follow biblical disciplines. But because we are human we will error.
