Do you believe people choose to go to hell by not listening to God?

I've heard people say that. To me that'd be like saying that if a husband tells his wife if she cheats he'll kill her, and she doesn't listen and cheats anyway. He finds out and kills her like he said he would, and it was her choice to die cause she knew that would happen if she did cheat.
Take that situation but instead of husband it'd be God, instead of cheating it'd be sinning, and instead of dying it'd be going to hell forever.
Only difference is God is perfect so with him in place of the husband it'd be holy and just.
It's incorrect to say that people don't listen to God if they don't believe he exists. It would be like saying people who don't leave their teeth under their pillow are not listening to the Tooth Fairy. In your example, the wife knows her husband exists and hears him threatening her, so it's not the same thing.

A better example would be a woman who was married to a man without her knowledge (like, the man "married" her in a ceremony she wasn't told about and didn't attend) and made his threat when he was in a different city, so she couldn't hear him. In that case, you can't blame the wife for "cheating" because she didn't know she was married and didn't hear the man's warning. So assuming God exists, it's unrealistic for him to send people to hell for not listening to him when they don't know he exists and aren't aware that he's giving them a choice.

There is no hell.

Christians tie themselves in knots trying to absolve their god of any blame for anything going wrong while, at the same time, claiming it's responsible for everything.

Well with the husband and wife scenario, I agree that being dishonest to someone is bad like cheating but you also can't force someone to stay if they're not going to. You can't force someone not to cheat. In real life we call that murder when a spouse decides to off another spouse.

And even though I agree that it would be bad to cheat, what kind of husband threatens to kill someone for cheating? I mean personally, you don't know their dynamic. What if the wife cheats because she doesn't feel loved and gets it from somewhere else? Or what if he was abusive from the get go?

Sure he could be a great person too but that leaves a lot of questions.

Only difference is God is perfect so with him in place of the husband it'd be holy and just.

No, it's just abusive.. plain and simple. If there was a God, they'd know that in life you can't always make the right decisions. Life is tough for so many in different parts of the world, you can't always be good. If there was a God, it may not even be Jesus, it could be something different. Then again, it could be Jesus. But whoever it would be hypothetically should know what is in your heart that matters and should be able to look at personal decisions.

Life is so much more complicated than that.
Perfection is a human concept. Look at everything in the surrounding universe. Where is the perfection?

No one knowingly chooses to go to Hell.. I have heard more then a few atheists saying they would prefer to go to Hell but if they had anywhere near a realistic idea of Hell they would be filled with terror at the prospect of going there..

People do choose to reject the Gospel of the LORD Jesus and in doing so they forgo forgiveness of their sins and eternal life with the LORD in His perfect eternal existence..

I don’t believe in hell and I don’t believe that a God who loves all of us would be so cruel to send us to a place like hell because we did something bad. I believe God loves all of us and wants us to keep trying every day to be the best versions of ourselves and forgives us for our sins

@Jenny1234 I have multiple questions about this loving God.
I think hell is separation from the One Who Is, and it is chosen or not.

Hell like everything else is a mental state.

@LordShadowfire I was about to comment the very illustration used in the video. It shows just how ludicrous the claim is.

@SparkleLeaf That's why I love the guy. I was one of his low-level patreons when he was demonetized for a while.
