I don't understand how you can get to know anyone by swiping left or right.
Where is the lengthy text?
Now there is a chance over private messages. Yet to get to that point is far worse than actually physically dating anyone for the first time.
They don't even encourage lengthy about me's! And if it's there at all, it's all one block of text copied from some unsecured blog page which is not even searched by ANY search engines.
It's why I don't pay attention to long blocks of text on here! I don't want to know anyone that can't write a five sentence paragraph or less, because it's just copied and pasted off of such unsecured sites.

@DeWayfarer When I had used dating apps you had to actually send a message through the system. The swipe left and right stuff came later. I honestly can't do the swipe thing without seeing a whole profile. A photo and a couple brief sentences that fit on a phone screen without scrolling is just to shallow an introduction for me.

I have been on other sites. They do discourage long text. Mostly to give the scammers a chance.
The last site I was on a year ago they limited the number of private messages. Something like 5 a day. And no replying back.

Not from a dating app but from a dating website which is more or less the same thing.
It still involved thousands of attempted chats, numerous first dates that came to nothing before I met my wife to be. So, Yes it can happen but it’s certainly not a silver bullet to meeting your future wife or husband.

11 years that started from a dating app. I think women have it tougher though because of the sheer number of men that use them just to try and get laid.
