What's something you discovered about yourself after marriage?

That I like beer more than marriage...

That i like being married and it was the right choice for me

After marrying at 18 I found I had a lot more self confidence.

That i am more patient than i thought to be and love suck....

I almost got married, once. The most important thing I discovered about myself is that I should never get married.

That there's more to life than just a sandwich

That being separated is a lot better

I learned that I wasted a lot of emotional energy being jealous before we married.

Like a person on a rocking boat watching the people on the land, and the people on the land watching the people on the rocking boat, all of them wishing they could trade places.

That what does not kill you makes you stronger.

that i was a spoiled angry brat but it took me 20 years to learn that 😒

I’m not sure I’d have ever understood that I don’t need fo rely on anyone else for my happiness if I hadn’t married someone who spent a lot of years making it clear my happiness wasn’t his problem. He taught me how to be happy without him and now tries harder to make me happy. 🙃😂 So I guess I also learned I think marriage is weird.

Patience is a virtue

That I’m built for monogamy in a world that isn’t.

That I could put up with ALOT of shit

That everyone screws up. That you patch things up and make things work. Forgiveness heals. Worked for 58 1/2 years.

Literally after my marriage was over? I learned two things.
The best thing I learned? You don't need anyone else besides yourself to survive.
That was also the worst thing I learned.

You can concentrate on taking care of your partner and not worry about connecting up with anybody else other than making close friends and loving people

I didn't want to pretend I was dumb anymore

That marriage isn't my lane. It changed the relationship. At the end of the day, in the eyes of the law, marriage is a business contract. Nothing more or less. It's only about taxes. And that's a fact that gets swept under the rug in lieu of societal expectations.

After the second one ended, I learned that I don't thing I'm really meant for anyone.
