That’s a little fast.

Well, we actually had known each other as friends for 15 years, beginning in high school. But never dated. Then I called her as an emergency fill-in "date" for a party my boss was having when my date canceled at the last minute. It was the first time "romance" had ever entered the equation in any form. We got married a month later. Lasted 43 years until cancer took her. 😰
I'm also reminded of "advice" I once got from my CEO. I hired this person for one job. She actually was over-qualified for that job, and when a better position opened up a couple months later, I promoted her into it. CEO called me on he carpet. Told me that in his experience you only know a person's positive qualities in the first 6 months; their weaknesses don't begin to show until after 6 months. I defied him; never regretted it.

My parents pretty much did,in just a little under 7 months.My mother once told me that my father was ready to marry her after about 3 months - but of course she wanted a bit more time to think about it.

Years ago I married someone I knew for 9 months, no I wasn't pregnant, we divorced after 3 years so no I wouldn't do it again!

I think a year is good, but every situation and time in your life is different.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
Not again. After 48 years together we are more in love today than we were in 1978

@hippyjoe1955 that's pretty fabulous! Great to hear that!
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@averageguy I think we broke every dating rule in the book. I will let your imagination run with that one.
averageguy · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 I'm guessing that's what made the spark so bright
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
I married someone 6 months after meeting her.
averageguy · 46-50, M
@DunningKruger was it good?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@averageguy Well, we're still married 25 years later, so there's that.
averageguy · 46-50, M
@DunningKruger sweet, good for you!
BritChick · 26-30, F
I did. We're still happy ten years later ☺
averageguy · 46-50, M

No
XxBlahxX · F
@averageguy nah, I've learned that ...men who want to move fast usually need a place to stay or need something outta you. I also have trust issues so I like to take my time with someone
averageguy · 46-50, M
@XxBlahxX what if he's got the place and job and isn't asking anything but more of you from you?
XxBlahxX · F
@averageguy I was married to someone who married me within a year and I've been with a man who supposedly wanted to marry me a month after he met me. I think ultimately it's going to come down to how passionate I am about that person and how comfortable I am with him. I don't trust time frames anymore .
Yep
