Depends on the person, I think :)
Ksmile14 · F
@LondonCowboy lol why would I do that?
LondonCowboy · 51-55, M
@Ksmile14 Because we could be a great match 😎🌹😘
Ksmile14 · F
@LondonCowboy lol Why do you think we would be a great match?

That’s wild. I’m 44, so that would be 29, and my girlfriend is 32. It’s about where I’m comfortable. Younger that 30 would be hard for me, I think.
Ksmile14 · F
@DarkHeaven Whoever has your heart is lucky 🤗
@Ksmile14 I’m the lucky one. She could have anybody (she’s beautiful) but she choose me. It’s wonderful.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i got hooked on a 29 yr old. i am 64. i really didn't see him as that young.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@akindheart You both are lucky.
I hope that it continues to be good for both of you..
akindheart · 61-69, F
@TexChik still working on him...he gives mixed messages.
TexChik · F
@akindheart 😉👍🏻 Go get’em girl!
TiffAching · 26-30, F
I’m currently engaged to someone 12 years older than me, but the biggest age gap ever for me was 24 years. Wouldn’t call that one a healthy relationship, though.
Ksmile14 · F
@TiffAching I hope this one is. 🤗
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@Ksmile14 It is, for sure. 🥰
Ksmile14 · F
@TiffAching Yay! 🤗
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
Probably 10 years. A bit hard to say though, you can't really judge people by their age. It hinges way more on compatibility.
Ksmile14 · F
@KuroNeko I can understand that.
SW-User
Idk. Age is a nondescript concept to me unless it's a overly young person. Depends on the individual.
Ksmile14 · F
@SW-User Iagree.
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F

Ksmile14 · F
@MrsKatherineArch Then I am happy for you! 🤗

sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Sounds like a very logical formula to me!! 😉😉😉
@sarabee1995 [c=#359E00]tell me your result[/c]
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@YukikoAmagi Well, the way I first heard this formula, it was used to describe the youngest person one could date and still be "socially acceptable." So, in my case, as a 25 year old, I could in theory date someone 19-20 and not raise too many eyebrows in my social circle.

Fortunately for me, my girlfriend and I are the same age so there is no issue.
My ex hubby is 40 🙈 17 years apart. Were together for 6 years 🙃 I would date someone who's even 30 years older than me 🤷‍♀️
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@PepsiColaP You are one of the brave ones who has tried older... 👏
@polyandrym66 thanks,I'm brave indeed 😂
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@PepsiColaP BRAVO... Never loose that spirit..
I don’t think there is a formula for what works... with that formula, you’re saying that a 47yr old could/shod date an 80yr old

.if they hit it off and fall in love... age shouldn’t matter...

I once dated someone 15yrs older than me. But I usually dated someone within a 5-10yr age gap.
Ksmile14 · F
@CookieCrumbs I didn't say the formula was right. It was just one that a friend shared with me. I say love who you love! :)
LondonCowboy · 51-55, M
@Ksmile14 I agree with that 💝
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Youngest probably 45. Oldest almost dead and rich.
Ksmile14 · F
@Keepitsimple That rich part. is an important part of age. :P lol
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
Not sure. I’ve dated 8 years older and 18 younger. Age hasn’t really mattered in my experience. Some early 50s people have had a “young” outlook on life and some 20somethings prefer to stay home and watch movies. All personal preference and outlook on life.
Ksmile14 · F
@luckranger71 That makes sense.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
i could imagine having a relationship with someone 20 years older, but not 20 years younger...
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@sarabee1995 😂 you just found this? yeah, why not?
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Yulianna So many ways we are so similar and yet in some ways we are very different. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@sarabee1995 🤗 oh, that is so true!
Orlbe · 26-30, F
I've heard of that too. Can date 2 years younger than me but no more than that and 10 years older than me max.
Orlbe · 26-30, F
@Ksmile14 Yeah...I feel that I get along more when a guy is older than me. 2 years younger it's enough for me. No judgements here. That's just me :)
Ksmile14 · F
@Orlbe You're the only person you have to please. :)

My first wife and the girlfriend to follow her were both 3 yrs older .
My second wife was 12 yrs younger .
The last 2 were half my age .
None of them worked ,,I don't think a formula can help me .
Thats why I have remained single the last 8 yrs
I make a much better friend it appears .
The women I seem to attract think they own me ,I can't just be friends with other woman .
My kids and I help people ,thats what we do .
None of the women I have loved seem to believe you can help someone and not be trying to sleep with them .or them you .(I am not that good looking )
So now I stay single ,I don't have to defend what I do to anyone .
Ksmile14 · F
@rckt148 That's sad. I'm sorry. :(

@SW-User Nice that you like older men though 🌹
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
well I am 62 so that would say I was on to date a 38 year old. which seems reasonable enough.
Would I go younger, it depends on the woman in question,
LongHairedCougar · 51-55, F

Interesting formula. Obviously the gap gets bigger as you get older.

At 57 your formula makes 35.5 acceptable. Which is laughable no 35 year woman is going to want to be saddled with me.

I think once into your 50s actually it needs to tighten again.... If you can been bothered any more 😂😂
Niloo · 46-50, F
@SW-User
Are you sure?
Every 50+ year old I see around me is dating 20 or early 30 year olds here
Ksmile14 · F
@SW-User lol Well Idk about that. I've got a long way to go before then.
SW-User
@Niloo not in the circles I circulate in.

And as I say no 35 year old woman would want to be saddled with me
Beautywithin · 36-40, F

@Ksmile14 up, dont do immature boys
RannochMan · 61-69, M
@Beautywithin I agree with 10 years.
Ksmile14 · F
@Beautywithin Boys seem to bring "issues." :/
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
I've always loved older woman, and when I was younger(25yo) I often dated my friends Grandma's.. so 40 years upwards for me..
But now that I'm 70, the gap has closed up quite a bit to 15 to 20 yrs upwards..
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@Ksmile14 It used to be more exciting for the older woman when I was much younger... But it still works..
Ksmile14 · F
@polyandrym66 Well if you asked a 90 year old woman on a date Im sure she would be very excited. :)

I’d say for younger it’d be half my age plus 7 (heard it from a friend) so it’s be 19 as I may consider 18 but that’s pushing it I think. But as for older I’d say a maximum 7 year gap (I’m 23 so I’d go for 23-30) as I get older that age would go up obviously but you get the point
Ksmile14 · F
@JordanForrester makes a lot of sense to me. :)
💜I deleted my previous answer...to give me a "do-over". I completely disregard your formula. I will soon be 25, so 18 would have to be the lowest legal age... that is the legal age in Oregon and the surrounding states. Since I am a teacher, I will follow that lower limit. As I searched for my previous answer on about page 7 or 8... this was an amazing question btw...I came across somebody's portrayal of the movie, "The Graduate"- a great movie btw. The older limit depends on- how well preserved the woman is... so easily 49, and possibly beyond that. When I was going to college, I ended up, one night, with the mother of a girl, that I did not know...but the girl attended the same college as me, and was away on a volleyball trip.😏

People get hooked on age. What does it matter. If two people want to be together as long as its legal.. I have had both younger and older.

It is what is inside people that matters. If others can't live with that it's their problem not mine

QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
I dated a 42 Year old aged 27
Was no problem to me so slightly under the formula you gave but could date even older I think For younger 🤷🏼‍♂️
Ksmile14 · F
@QuietEd2019 Do you like them older rather than younger?
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
@Ksmile14 well at 29 would need to be careful how much younger
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
@Ksmile14 though I would date a little younger think I am outside anyone younger than 20 being appropriate as a 29 year old even 18/19 year olds getting bit suspect I think 😳
jackson55 · M
She’s 24 years younger than me and we’ve been together almost 10 years.
jackson55 · M
@polyandrym66 Thanks.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@jackson55 You are welcome and well deserved..
I love hearing about age-gap relationships that are working well..
Ksmile14 · F
@jackson55 Nice! I hope you're both happy!
JoePourMan · 61-69, M
I don't think age is much of a factor.
My parents were almost 20 years apart, and they shared 56 happy years together.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@JoePourMan mine also have this age gap 🙂
Ksmile14 · F
@JoePourMan Nice!
I dated a woman 7-8 years older then me and it was great!
Also dated a woman younger and it wasn’t so fun.

Personally I’m not a fan of women under let’s say 28 now since I’m 34. The life gap is to great past that.
Also I don’t think going too much older would be fair either.

I definitely feel there could be a really good connection and romance but life points and goals would be too great. Think your formula is a good way to look at extremes
Ksmile14 · F
@MrFreeeeeze That's the kind of thing I'm getting--that the life differences are more difficult to get past even if there's an attraction.
Some people can make it work but tragically it’s to rare @Ksmile14
Ksmile14 · F
@MrFreeeeeze I can understand that.
MrGoodbar · 51-55, M
if the younger one is 30 or over, 15 - 20 years is fine. If the younger on is over 20 but 29 or less I would say 10 to 12 years.
Ksmile14 · F
@MrGoodbar Sounds reasonable
MrGoodbar · 51-55, M
@Ksmile14 so I'm Not Crazy? LOL
Cantsayno · 56-60, M
Probably 20 years younger and 5 years older. But seeing that I am a very active person it would depend more on that.

@Cantsayno 👏

this would make it ok for a 100 years person to date a 57 years person...
Ksmile14 · F
@Yulianna If a 100 year old person would wanna date! 😬
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Ksmile14 why not, if she could have a 57 year boyfriend 😂
SW-User
Hmm with that formula 50 and 32 seems a bit wide IMO but everyone is different
Ksmile14 · F
@SW-User Yeah I think it's just personal choice. 🤷‍♀️
HeyRouben · 41-45, M
10 years but also when you fall in love age most of the time don't matter
Nanori · F
The oldest I dated was 15 years older than me and not fun, I mean I liked all that maturity and experience but I'm this person who's all over the place and noisy but he wanted peace and calm

And the best relationship I've ever had was with a guy 4 years younger than me

😵 Difficult question
Ksmile14 · F
@Nanori lol think there are things that you need to be close in age to get about a person but I also think it just depends on the person.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Nanori 😂
jackson55 · M
24 years and she’s still here.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M

2cool4school · 46-50, F
Oh geez 🙄 bad game for me 😳
SW-User
I've dated someone who was almost 20 years older so... 25 would be my max.
The age difference I feel more comfortable with is 10-15 years (with someone older, not younger)
Ksmile14 · F
@SW-User You just like older? I get that.
SW-User
@Ksmile14 Yes 🙂
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
age difference isn't on my high list of prerequisites; it's more about their mentality, personality, values, interests, etc.

If it's someone I can associate with easily, age is just an arbitrary number... 🤔
Ksmile14 · F
@wildbill83 I get that but I'd think there's an age range where your personalities, mentalities, etc. would match up better. Or at least like more consistently.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
The formula said 33.5 for me, that's roughly a 20 year difference....but I had already set a limit for myself of 10 years one way or the other, so if I were still dating it would be out of my range.
Ksmile14 · F
@indyjoe You gotta do you and be comfortable, so 10 years it is! :)
bert199 · 51-55, M
I don’t worry much about the math. It depends on the maturity of the person. I love age gap relationships and have been in some with a small gap that didn’t work well at all. And some with a very large gap that I cherished
Lanyx · 41-45, M
I draw the line at 20 years (younger) than me. I don't want her to feel like I'm her daddy... mind you. Anyway, I would like to stay within one generation of myself.
Ksmile14 · F
@Lanyx Makes sense.
