High cholesterol can begin in childhood, it can be inherited and a person can still be skinny all their life.

@Mondayschild High cholesterol could also come down to diet. Your body will produce the amounts it needs, but sometimes eating large amounts of cholesterol or saturated fats can spike your levels. The effects diet have on cholesterol can vary widely, especially just after ingesting large quantities when you normally have low levels. You replace the saturated fats and cholesterol to unsaturated fats and fiber, you will likely see a a steady drop over time.

Question Why is this tagged under Dating and Relationships? 😂 No, but seriously, it does still matter. Eating unhealthy all the time can cause serious health issues. I'm skinny, but if I ate bad food all the time I would probably encounter high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney problems, acid reflex, etc. So in my experience, moderation with everything is ok.

An unhealthy diet can still increase your risk of things like heart disease and cancer, even skinny.

Eating healthy always matters in my opinion, and weight loss shouldn't be the only thing that motivates oneself from taking care of their body

@moviefan545 that's understandable

Yes, it matters. What people eat contributes to cancer and other diseases that will take you out, regardless of your size. And while you can get away with things when you're young, the body's less forgiving as you get older.

@bijouxbroussard When should i change my diet? When i'm in my 40's
@Science78 No time like the present. Add more veggies, fruit, drink more water. Cut down on processed sugar, if you're not already.

If you have a family history of heart disease of diabetes I'd still watch it ...but nothing wrong with splurging
Yep, as you get older the food you eat will catch up with you. It's okay to eat junk sometimes but you have to eat your fruits and veges and stay hydrated
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
You should always eat healthy, no matter how much you weigh.

Diet affects all people--skinny or not.

Yes, eating healthy always matters. At some point (usually sometime during the mid-30's), the metabolism usually slows down and we tend to put on weight more easily, and it gets harder to take it off. But even before that happens, we still need to eat healthy to stay healthy, so we won't get sick. I really do believe that this pays off in the long run, even if it doesn't seem important right now. Your body will thank you.

If anything, it gets you out to the world, boosts serotonin levels and helps protect your heart.
Skinny doesn't equal healthy.
Zebra132 · 26-30, F
Yes, you can be unhealthy without being heavy
