" hey, i polished these stairs i want you to see" 🤗
'dear baby, welcome to dumpsville. population: you.'
Adrift · 61-69, F
Telling him your boyfriend will be picking you up soon usually does the trick.
i once had dated a guy who actually surprised me on my birthday by dumping me. mf actually said "surprise!' too, like it was festive and shit. i don't think i will ever forget that lol. i can laugh about it now, but WOW

Being honest
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Easiest for you or them?
The easiest thing for you depends on who you are as a person. It might mean just ghosting them, or ignoring them mostly, or treating them like just a friend.
Or it might mean sitting down with them and having a conversation, tell them flat out that you feel the need to move on. Be honest but kind.
YMMV.

In person, by being honest. Clean break afterward!!
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Quetzalcoatlus that's probably better than what I just wrote, but if there's any kind of risk towards violence or verbal abuse on the part of the other party,I would not do it in person.

@Justmeraeagain Safety first!

i think it depends on your relationship how easy it is or isn't to break up with them

The EASIEST way is to date people who, when you say, “I don’t want to see you anymore,” say “Okay. good luck,” and walk away.
Otherwise, don’t say you want to break up just for drama’s sake. If you mean it, say it, and don’t waffle about it. If someone wants you, it doesn’t much matter what you say after “We’re done.”
Don’t do it when either of you are impaired in any way. That magnifies emotion. Breaking up in absolute privacy can get dicey. Way better if people are far enough away to not hear you talking, but near enough to hear you call for help.

Don't think there's a perfect way to break up with someone.
The easiest would probably just ghosting them but that's not really a very kind thing to do
I would text him or call him and say listen this isn't working out and I don't think we should see each other anymore.
Short ,simple ,and direct

there is no easy way

I never had to do it. My wife did it several times in college. She warned them that she was dating them as friends, just for fun, because she loved me. I was away at another university. When they started to get serious, she just told them that they could be friends, ONLY, and if they could not accept that, it was over. If the guy said that he just couldn't accept that, she said, "I've had fun. This is our last date." Eventually, all remained friends.

It's only easy if you don't care at all about the other person's feelings. Otherwise, try to make it a clean break, those wounds heal fastest.

Ghost and cut ALL contact.
LookingForTheSummer · 36-40, M
@ElyssTTTrucks Probably. But only shit people do that.
ElyssTTTrucks · 100+, M
@LookingForTheSummer Many do not listen do not understand, only want you to be what THEY want you to be and are quick to become abusive if you don't CONFORM to what they want and would flee in a fraction of a heartbeat if you were ever sick or poor. They don't deserve any better.
People just ghost others now these days ....just be shitty like everyone else
