I am a step father to 3 kids. They hated me when i moved in with my partner that then became my wife. They had the run of the house and did what they wanted. I set rules and discipline. I felt they hated me and when i said no the wife would not support me and give i to them. It took years but they found i loved and cared about them. Now they are adults with kids of there own and we are a close happy family. Not all step parents are bad
@nevergiveup My mother's second husband was a scrict disciplinarian who used me as a punching bag on occasion, so I can say without a doubt a new spouse is a replacement partner, not a replacement parent. This is where the majority of the comflicts are concerned, the replacement partners assume they have the right to disipline the children, to take over as a new parent, or worse yet, the parent giving the new spouse authority over their children, my mother let her second husband discipline me right off the bat as soon as she introduced my older brothers and me to him. The only good step parent is one that lets the biological parent take care of any issues with their children, not be passed off as was the case of my mother with her second husband.

I've seen the opposite - a stepchild who hated her new mom. The mom was lovely and treated the child well. But the stepchild just resented her because she wasn't her biological mom. The more the mom did for her, the more the child resented her.

Lol! Funny you asked this. My own father hated me. How did I handle? With patience, I gave him the respect and care he never deserved, but I played my part. Now it's almost 9 years since he died.

My dad was married four times and had a ton of girlfriends, I just pretended they didn't exist.

When I was a child I got beat pretty bad.
I ended up forgiving them.

@SomeMichGuy
No worries. The toughest point was figuring my endless searching in life was caused by me not forgiving
@Pfuzylogic So you forgave and could move on?

Is talk to him if I was you cause hate is a very strong word and when you think someone hates you the mental chatter in your mind that starts over that thought then the mind can play tricks with you .
Your feeding poison , not him , but you

I real solution to your problem, I feel, is cannibalism. Eat your stepparent, absorb their power.
