*Without being mean*, what would you think if you found out your boyfriend didn't know you don't cook raw meat by putting it in the microwave?

He thought he could put raw bacon in a microwave and cook it. He said, "You can cook bacon in a microwave! I have plenty times before." I told him that was precooked bacon. He realized I was right when he looked it up.

I wasn't ugly or anything, but it did concern me. He's 43 years old and doesn't know you cannot cook raw meat in a microwave. It makes me wonder if he'll ever be serious with a woman who isn't a huge cook. I remember back when he initially asked me if I could cook. Now it makes more sense why he seemed to care more than previous boyfriends.

Update: This looks disgusting and is not how bacon is supposed to taste or look! Lol... not in the southern part of the USA for sure.

You could cook anything, raw bacon included, in the microwave. You can even order special ridged trays, specifically to cook bacon in a microwave.

@SomeMichGuy Yeah. I understand that.

As I said in my post earlier today, I looked up people actually using a microwave to cook bacon. Yuck. As my boyfriend said, it didn't turn out for him. The bacon in the videos I saw didn't look appetizing in the least. My boyfriend agrees with this or he could easily use a microwave to cook food. He does not.

The reason I laughed at reliably is because I was thinking about all the misinformation I get on Google now vs some years back. Finding out people actually use a microwave to cook raw meat doesn't change my opinion on it or my initial concern. It doesn't produce good results, and he wants a woman who cooks regularly... and a woman who doesn't use a microwave to cook as he'd find that unacceptable! Lol!
@perceptivei Well, the internet had better information when sites actually HAD information (e.g., large FTP directories).

But the social media explosion has created a huge amount of noise. If idiots all believe, link to, endorse something not true, it destroys the usefulness of the Page Rank algorithm.

Me personally? I wouldn’t date someone who can’t share responsibilities as needed. Present relationship, I do the majority of the cooking because I’m home first, but if I don’t feel like it for whatever reason I know I can count on him to handle things without it being an issue.

That said… lots of guys have the cooking skills of a 12 year old. The question is whether he’s open to learning and cooking together.. and.. if you’re open to learning how to get more into cooking with him.

Alternately, it’s worth asking yourself if you’d be fine marrying someone who you know will expect you to handle the responsibility. Cuz.. if not expect that to be something you regularly fight about.

Or.. you guys could have a conversation where you both decide neither one of you like to cook and will have a huge budget for restaurants.

Well, it’s always better to try to help but it also comes down to how he responds

Sorry, but i cook raw bacon in the microwave often if I'm in a hurry... What makes you think you can't?
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@LoneVoice Exactly. Thank you.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@perceptivei i agree that frying it is better, but, as i said, "if I'm in a hurry"
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Convivial I understand.

Lol some guys just can’t or won’t cook. You’d be surprised how long some men can get by on cold cereal and microwave meals.
Yeah, Keep looking for those red flags and analyzing everyone's every move and before you know it, you'll be 67 and alone.
Or you can roll and enjoy life along with it's many ups and downs.

@LoneVoice My dad was the cook in my family. So, it's difficult for me to understand a man that doesn't know how to cook bacon.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Misspotat My point is he does care. He will not accept that. He wants a woman to cook for him daily. And, he would find it unacceptable is she used a microwave to cook.

I'm just trying to be realistic with myself that he might never get serious with me.

Just Go vegan you guys and keep the love going 💞😹
Hmmmm...ok.

Can you normalize a Gaussian by hand?
@perceptivei If you are your age and don't know how to normalize a Gaussian, I have serious doubts about your mathematical ability.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@SomeMichGuy What??? 🤣
@perceptivei Well, you are laughing at a guy who is trying to use non-skillet modes of cooking bacon at his age.

I am asking if *you* know how to derive by hand the normalization of a Gaussian, at your age...? If you can't, I really have serious doubts about mathematical abilities.

The microwave should not be used for anything other than heating up left overs. Even with that it kills all the nutrients in the food.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M

MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst nevermind its raw

YOU cooked meat in a microwave !

As a serious home gourmet and former restaurant cook, I refuse to own a microwave.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@NativePortlander1970 I understand that.

@Misspotat He said it didn't cook for him. I did google some videos, and people actually do that. I don't think he has any desire to learn to cook... at least I feel that way now.
@perceptivei He sounds like a user
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@NativePortlander1970 I don't know. He's been single most of his life. I know he depends on his mom to cook regularly. I do think he could work on being a little more giving sexually. Lol
