I think it’s about as good as novels get. I’ve been in love with Elizabeth for 40 years. The adaptation with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy was excellent.

The characters feel so modern even though the setting is so long ago. And the first sentence is so famous!

It was a required read in my high school English class. It was great!! Full of details, full of interesting ideas and characters. I liked Elizabeth Bennett the most. She wanted to voice her opinion LOUD, back in a time when women were supposed to be quiet, sew, and cook only. She was kind but had a feisty soul!!

I liked reading it at school because Elizabeth Bennett has the same number of sisters as me 🙂 The depiction of Mr Bennett is nice because family life really did matter despite the huge financial burden of marrying off his daughters.

It was set against the backdrop of the largest military conflict the world had ever seen. But apart from the occasional appearance of a handsone man in uniform, everyone seems blissfully unaware.

This is one of my favourite books of all time and i have read and re-read it. It makes me laugh so much.

My absolute favourite bit is where Elizabeth is turning down a proposal and he is convinced she is only doing so to be demure and polite.

But there are so many wonderful bits.

The best adaptation was the series with Colin Firth.

I hated the film with Keira Knightly and the even qorse Bride and Prejudice

I read it back in high school about the same time the book was written. I can remember a lot of things from a lot of books that I read. Not so that book. I can't even remember the story line or name one of its characters. I guess it wasn't that memorable a book. I hope you enjoy reading it and get more out of it than I did.

@hippyjoe1955 If you see the film, with Colin Firth as the rude Mr Darcy, it really intertwines the book so well. 😃

I read it a very long time ago in school. I barely remember it, but I do remember loving the relationship among all the sisters. Made me wish I had more than just one, lol.
