Yes, and I enjoyed it. McMurtry is one of my favorite authors, starting with "The Last Picture Show," also a great movie.

The book and the mini-series both, are outstanding.

Wow. Even winner of the Pulitzer prize! I've never read it but now you've got me wanting to read it. I'm going to have to now. Hahaha it must really be good. Is there a movie of it? I looked it up and I see Lonesome Dove is a highly acclaimed 1989 American epic Western television miniseries starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones, often referred to as a movie. Based on Larry McMurtry’s novel, it follows two former Texas Rangers on a dangerous cattle drive from Texas to Montana.

@greensnacks I haven’t read that one. But I will look it up. Lonesome Dove is about a couple of Texas Rangers , some women they loved and others. They drive cattle to Montana and it’s a tough journey. It’s so good.
LavidaRaq · F
@greensnacks wait, I have heard of it. I’d like to know if you liked it.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I've read it twice. There are prequels and sequels.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@LavidaRaq I read them as they were published. The first one was a sequel and I was disappointed. Larry McMurtry had open heart surgery and was recovering on a lady friend's couch and he admitted later he was in a bad mood. At least one is a prequel when they are young Texas Rangers and it's very good. They are all worth reading. Larry McMurtry is my favorite writer and has been ever since I read The Last Picture Show in 1972.
