The print medium will never die

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Hmmm …. At my local library there were comments hand written throughout dozens of the books I checked out or leafed through. It was always in the same hand writing too. Thinking it had to be someone who hung out at the library quite often and didn’t check those books out.
@cherokeepatti Years ago at our local library a woman was arrested for writing in a book, the charge was vandalism of government property.

@NativePortlander1970 should be. I doubt this person got caught.
@cherokeepatti Easy, put hidden cameras up in areas where known habitual readers sit, then go through the footage.

Good one. It was over well over 30 years ago, that I listened in alarm to someone hold forth about how print books would soon be obsolete. While I realize he wasn't entirely wrong....I sure am glad he wasn't entirely right, either.

I've spent the last couple of days making three of my books on Amazon available as paperbacks because so many people have asked for them. A lot of people just don't like ebooks.
@TheLush What are they? I collect ebook titles.

Books don't need electricity to survive.

And a bookshelf is much more lovely to look at than a solitary i-thing.

Books also have a nice aroma to them that electricity can't match. ;)

@NativePortlander1970 I've heard that kindles are great

My dad loves them now.

But he also spent a long time collecting the full collection of Penguin Classics.

He searched second-hand book shops for years.

This was before Amazon existed.

They will always remind me of him.

I won't inherit an e-book.

Ps. He's not dead yet. :)
@Thodsis Most likely because your Dad can enlarge the text, when your eyesight goes, you will be thankful for it.

@NativePortlander1970 I'm seriously myopic. I broke my glasses a few months ago and was absolutely fucked without them. :)

Mind you, there used to be some fairly fruity 'annotation' in our school dictionaries 😬

Some forms will, other forms such as product packaging won’t.

And you can hit it with a hammer and it still works.
