I would like to know if any in S.W. has given thought to writing a book?

@Virgo79From a reality point of view, it is so hard to get published these days. But, that doesn't mean that it's hard, either, at least not for some.

Pre-publishing is very helpful, but that comes in at a cost and even then it's possible that the structure of what is written will be critically assessed (in your interest, of course,) and further work needed to eventually get it to be written 'correctly' for the publishing house of choice. It all costs money with absolutely no guarantee that it will be found acceptable in the final analysis. 90% of what is submitted is rejected, whilst within the 'acceptable' 10% there would still be those which would be considered needing 'tweaking'.

'50 Shades of Grey' went 'Viral'; not easy to do in actual print, but it did and so many Authors agree that the work itself is full of (considerd) 'obvious' mistakes. I guess it's not too unlike saying that what is expected to fall outside 'acceptable', in this case, is what forced it to become a success ... and still is a success.

Self publishing can be lucrative because less instant cash is needed, whilst 'print on demand' these days is considered a good way to begin any future career. But in any event, it's best to start thinking along the lines of making a bit of money on the way rather than becoming a millionaire overnight. But ... you never know; you could be the next famous writer in Barnes and Noble

@Jlhzfromep Take on one at a time. Allow your characters to 'become;' to be seen, and to believe in themselves.
You soon will realize you are writing about yourself. Open yourself to the reader as you become the Character. To become a character yourself within the story that desires to be heard.
Know the dream you have within, can express itself as it brings forward your own powerful force. Listen for the sounds in the air. Describe the breeze and the scents they bring.
I create. I built a scene that houses the words that need to be felt and known because these words NEED to be told!
And even more, I feel my own aching in a similar way of the characters that are born.

Listen to the sounds of nature as you walk in the park. Hear the rustling of the branches as you hear the noises increase coming closer your way. Allow the reader to see the pictures you see.
I was always a very shy and lonely child. There is a lot of myself in my book. Your heroine is your key. In your mind she is real. You have to write the words you feel.
Using a lot of Nature sounds as well as colors play a large part in fillers.
LOVE what you write and the reader will also want more of this same feeling.

@Carla1951 Great idea and yes I sort of did that. I have a work colleague that has a 14 yr old daughter who I gave a copy to. She in turn gave it to some friends. Their feedback was mainly that the dialogue in it was not exactly how 14 yr old girls talk, so she altered it for me.

The book is about a 14 yr old girl and her friends and the issues she faces including bullying, which is due to some extent to her being in an online chat room (just like SW lol) and this messing with he mind. The lines between her real and online worlds collide.

The feedback was also that it was quite real and that the situations I wrote about have genuinely happened to some of them. I did have one parent (who also read it) say it was crap and would never happen! Sadly some parents are seriously out of touch with the realities of online chat and exactly what their kids get up to.

@carparkman1234 I see you offered this to an adult. NOT a child nor Teen. An adult is unable to see the words that you feel are needed for our YOUTH to view. The stories were written to be viewed by a Teen NOT an adult. Therefore they, growing up simply didn't 'get it'
Again, I suggest you take this to be viewed by a teacher.He/She May well know just what it is a child of that age is interested in.
Bullying is a HOT topic to 'DATE' And not many want to even discuss it. No wonder our teens are so confused.
Another option when you deliver the pages to a Classroom;
Discover the reading style that interests them the most at THIS time of their lives. Ask questions of the Students.
The kids today face multiple battles. They hide their fears and their hope, believing there is no self value Zero outcome to reveal their true space.

I am so happy you have taken on this roll. Yet know, that even if ONE child fails to step forward, You have planted the seed. The idea that might help their own recovery.
Continue to keep in mind that these kids fear most in having their own secrets revealed.
In this; seek the assistance of the Classroom teachers.
I love what you are doing.Cannot imagine the masses of teens that can find help in this.

@Carla1951 It was given to my friend's 14 year old daughter and her friends. And as I say, the feedback was great, particularly in the dialogue, but they did love the story. I also sent a copy to another 14 year old girl in Asia who I met in here! She loved it too and gave good editing feedback on one scene.

I doubt a school would let me read it to a class, as it has a few "awkward" scenes in it, including nudity. While all my test readers agreed all the scenes were true to life and definitely do happen, it would not be suitable to read out in a class. Its now on Amazon and experiencing modest sales levels.

@frequentlyme Mine is a work of fiction too, about young teens, but some of my own thinking and activities at that age crept into it. I think it has to, or its won't feel genuine.

Mine was about a young girl that always dreamed of horses.
Till one day she discovered this mare that was being beaten and battered by her rider. She through off her embarrassment and fear of strangers to assist the mare.
And the story continues and she becomes a champion rider.
