Just a thought

I have my reasonings but I am not a supporter of the death penalty.

Neither am I. If you’re a logical individual, (which you seem to be to me, for whatever it’s worth) then your reasonings must be a lot more sound than those who do support it.

@Ducky It is mostly logical under a religious belief I have. Simply enough you can't bring people to god if you kill them. Hope that doesn't ruin your view of me being logical, but I hold life to a very high regard. Even if there is no afterlife or religion then it makes life even more valuable to me because this is all we get then.

@Rokan I’m not religious, but having high regard for human life is logical enough for me.

@Ducky not having a high regard to human life is logical?

@Rokan *BUT

Damn autocorrect

@Ducky People are so quick to want to kill each other it baffles me.

@Rokan Me too. I’ll never understand it.

@Ducky Do you think maybe it stems from having a low emotional intelligence? I see all the time with stand your ground laws that people can shoot and kill others for being in fear of their safety without having to retreat, but that seems illogical to me. It seems if someone is unwilling to retreat to safety it isn't fear motivated to shoot but anger motivated.

@Rokan It’s a very slippery slope that would require a whole different post to discuss adequately. But to give my short answer on the topic: on one hand, I say there is some solid validity to stand your ground laws, but it’s all highly situational. There are situations where one should absolutely stand their ground and shoot to kill if it’s truly kill or be killed. But there are also situations where simply removing themselves from the situation when given the opportunity is the best course of action.

@Ducky I guess i am thinking of scenarios like where someone is stealing something left out on the front lawn and the person turns around and starts running and they get shot or if like there is an argument that is about to lead to a physical fight and someone draws a weapon which is enough to get the other to retreat and fires in their back etc...

I do believe in self defense 100% I am not a true pacifist in any regard, but there has been a lot of situations I have seen on the news that seemed like murder to me not I had no way to retreat.
