Usually a lot louder. Tracks run on outskirts of my property behind the woods.

@Degbeme yes, I love it most in winter. Something about that train whistle when there's snow on the ground, that I don't know, just nostalgic

I live two miles from a main RR line. Some trains are more than a mile long. And sometimes they stop at crossings so the crew can have lunch.

Probably because the trees are starting to thin out so they block less of the trucks and trains sound.
