I remember when you could call the operator and ask for information.
TheWanderingMind · 41-45, M
@Adrift yes we had that too. There was also 1800 collect. We would send secrets messages via the operator so the other person didn't get charged

@TheWanderingMind I remember doing that too.
When I was little I wanted call a new friend I had just met at school but didn't know her adress or phone number.
I called the operator and asked if she could help me find her number.
The operator was really nice but couldn't help me.

Why not just wear a watch?
CarolZ · 26-30, F
@OutoftheGloom yeah, that was my reaction reading this too, lol
TheWanderingMind · 41-45, M
@OutoftheGloom people didn't call the phone line because they lacked a watch they called to fix their watch, vcr so on. Older watches didn't run on batteries, they ran on springs and gears so you would need to wind it or adjust it. Sometimes it would be off. Or for example day light savings or if people did forget their watches many different reasons. You sure your 46-50? Lol
Adrift · 61-69, F
@OutoftheGloom You had to call time to set your watch.
at the 3rd stroke it will be 234 and 35 seconds... beeep beep beep
