Buying my first new vehicle in my life

Buying my first new vehicle in my life, a new 2027 Mercedes Benz C Class. Realized I had the money and always bought used. I had money saved up from an inheritance I received in 2007. I test drove one and liked it. I am having it ordered in a black metallic color. The sales person has been good to me with this. The owner whom I know is glad a sale is going to be made and I worked there as a tech. Plus the shop I work at gets OEM Mercedes Benz parts from them.

Now we know who not to ask for money anymore. 😅 😂 🤣 I'm truly glad for you. 🙂

That's great! I hope you enjoy your purchase for years.
Congrats 🎉
Congratulations.

I worked with a woman who got a huge bonus after completing a two-year assignment in American Samoa. She had always wanted a Mercedes, and spent her bonus on one. She was happy with it until she brought it back to the dealer for an oil change and was charged $600.

$600? That's what my next question was going to be when I went back to the Dealership to find out about routine maintenance cost, like oil changes.

Thanks Leo, you just saved me the gas money!

Mercedes by the way, is the only car manufacturer that does not offer a pre-paid maintenance package when you buy a Mercedes brand new.
I bought my first new car 5 years ago.
The money I saved on repairing a dinosaur was worth it..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout after buying a few new trucks, I think I'd rather have a 50+ year old "dinosaur" instead...

none of that afm, vvt, auto-off, egr, etc. crap to appease the hippies...

Congratulations! I was looking very closely at a 2027 Mercedes GLC 300.

But then I found out that from model year 2027 onward, the GLC class will no longer be manufactured in Germany for the North American market, but instead will be made in the USA (Alabama) of all places.

Somehow, I just can't see a prestige automobile like a Mercedes Benz being made in Alabama! I mean, nothing could be more diametrically opposite to each other!

Because I live in Canada, that GLC I wanted will now be tariffed to hell and back thanks to Trump, but also because Mercedes in their infinite wisdom decided that their Canadian market would be serviced by vehicles made in the USA. Big mistake! No wonder Germany lost the Canadian submarine building contract to Norway!

Canadians are not buying ANY vehicles at all that are made in the USA, which is why the car Dealership lots in Canada which sell American-made cars are still FULL of cars and pickup trucks that nobody wants and still have brand new 2025s on the lot with zero mileage on them that they can't even give away at cost.

My real view about your purchase? Although this would apply to any car in today's ridiculous price ranges.

You're buying a depreciating appliance that happens to have a three-pointed star on it

There's no such thing as it all would be worth an investment.
Never would. It loses 1/3 of its value as soon as you drive it off the lot. I'd rather get a 4 year old at a fraction of the price.

..and with 50% of it's lifespan already gone. Brilliant.
