Really crazy beauty trends in China right now because the culture itself is obsessed with painting females as unopposing and knowing their place.

I'm seeing all these beauty trends from there that has me constantly asking wtf are they doing. Like some trends include eating plastic in order to limit food consumption (they put some food in some plastic and then use that as some sort of like barrier in your mouth, ) lots and lots of surgeries including to look like a mask, doll, frozen smile those are the three most common.

Yes people are getting perma smiles on their face and it's crazy work.

They even had another video showing women that specfically have doctors cut into their bone mass so they can have chop legs (literally.) So they can be forced into a smaller frame.

There's all these crazy surgeries and it's not just China but in America they do looksmaxxing in which you take a hammer to your face and break the jawbone.

That's serious body dysmorphia going on there.

Yeah it’s really bad there. They still have the practice of feet binding starting as a child. Sex trafficking is huge in there and the ccp is often involved. China has had a horrible history when it comes to democracy even before the communist took control.

@SatanBurger been that way for over a century. They had one democratic election after the final dynasty was overthrown but the elected president was quickly killed and the military official who killed him took over and banned elections. Since then it been nothing but violence and oppression for the Chinese people.

@Captainjackass That's why the trends seem to match the attitude of being docile and complacent then because I thought that was bizarre. If you look at all the trends from there, it's all about seeming as unimposing as possible. Perma smiles to make you look "happy" even at a funeral, having your ribcage and some leg bones removed to make you "smaller," women looking meek and mild or having surgeries to look like toddlers 🤢

But it does kinda make sense if the entire culture has been through violence enough that they just now basically try to be as unimposing as possible to not make any waves.

Like tip toeing on glass.

I wouldn't make it to be honest, not that I'd want to be a terrible person just to be one, just that I'd be myself and get into trouble "just" by doing that lol. I'm not mean blunt but I am kinda blunt as a person so I know I'd piss someone off lol.

The vast majority of Chinese people just simply couldn't afford 20 thousand for such surgery though. It's doubtful even if a million Chinese could afford it over 1.2 billion people.

@SatanBurger You must understand that China itself censors ANY Western social media. And your referring to a Western social media influencer. They say even the slightest thing against China they will be silenced. China will censor just because of the optics is all wrong. They have their own social media in fact. That can only be gotten from an authorized Chinese website.

Sometimes I will search on Yandex, a Russian search engine. They are a bit less strict. Yet the restrictions are there as well.
