None really.

Acheron · 41-45, M
Hasn't been a person I've referred to as a best friend since I was a teenager. Have met some great people over the years but simply no one that panned out to be more than an acquaintance. I put the blame for that on me...never been all that great with other people.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
My husband, then my older sister, then my aunt.

I define “best friend” as someone I can be completely honest with and don’t have to mask so much around. Those are the only three that qualify. The hierarchy is based on how much I have to mask.
ToLivePeacefully · 31-35, M
I did have three people I could call my bffs.

As of now, we are still good friends that's all.

0... I refuse to have a best friend after the last one died when I was 17.

That spot is his and always will be.

I do have a few close friends instead, though.
helenS · 36-40, F
Only my sister – she's my only real friend. There were points in my life where I wouldn't have survived without her.
One. Of all my friends he’s my best friend.

You can’t have more than one.

One is all I can cope with…and vice versa, I imagine.

wackidywack · 26-30
two and one of them is a dog
One, by definition of the word "best".
helenS · 36-40, F
@NudasPriest It's always fun to find definitions of ordinary language words - definitions which contain less common words.
@helenS The nuances of certain words do change too, I admit - though I'm not happy about it.
