Graphic design question for you all

So, I'm looking at a logo for a local café called Peachtree. The logo is the wordmark on top of the cross section of a tree, showing the tree's rings — something you can only see if the tree is cut down.

Thoughts?

Is it this one?

I find it an odd logo to choose. It makes no connection in my mind with anything associated with a cafe. And I do not find it compelling, artistically. It does not "draw me in."
