I never did on purpose !

A dude in his 40s not listening to Taylor Swift is not exactly a rare phenomenon she doesn't write music for our demographic. She's a pop musician writing music for women a generation or two behind us. It'd be more of a flex to listen to her because that would make you different.

@CountScrofula simmer down daddy

Nor have I, but I have a lot of respect for her. When she was still a teen her contract with Sony was up for renewal. They offered her an incredible amount of money to resign with them. The richest contract they had ever offered anyone. The only catch, they wanted total control. Which songs would be on an album, in what order and how many albums she had to make each year. Plus much much more like promoting her concerts.
She told them to shove it. She would produce, promote and market her own music and herself. She's been pretty damn good at it.

Congratulations on your remarkable accomplishment of never hearing a Taylor Swift song. Was it much of a struggle?

You're like 20 years too young to be a boomer.

@GlitterEater so much for a dying breed

Likewise!
Oh the hype and rhubarb surrounding her recent UK tour.
She's only another "singer" whose lyrics are her own, yes, (though I don't know if she writes them), but judging by the occasional clip I heard on the News, is otherwise no different in style or ability from any other manufactured sensation-of-the-moment.
I don't know if this is right but one item hinted she does not even go on stage with a band but performs to recorded backings. If so, is she singing or miming?
Seen too many come and go to know from another, and few seem to last more than a few years before their managers and handlers have had enough of 'em.

@Dignaga The moment I read this, I flew to Pittsburgh to get a good look at you from above. Perched as I was high above the Birmingham Bridge, I waited for you.
I am flying home now.

Wow. It must be dangerous being so edgy. Be careful you don't cut yourself.
