The last vestige of medieval feudalism persisted in Europe until 2008. It was on the island of Sark in the Channel Islands, which was governed in a feudal manner until the lord of the island held a referendum asking the residents if they wanted to continue as they were or give democracy a try. Fifty-six percent of residents voted for democracy — only 56%.

The shortest war in history lasted 38 minutes! It was between Britain and Zanzibar and is known as the Anglo-Zanzibar War. This war occurred on August 27, 1896. It was over the ascension of the next Sultan in Zanzibar and resulted in a British victory.
