Ideological Purity

I strikes me how ideological purity is demanded and expected more and more. One has to conform to a political party's entire agenda and talking points, or one really has no space. The same goes for faith communities. One must agree with every piece of every confession and engage in every practice, or one really has no space. That leaves alot of people on the outside looking in-- or just faking for expediency. Why such small tables? It used to be that faith communities, political and social movements, had huge inclusive tables…

A priest of my secular acquaintance (friend's brother) explained that you cant cherry-pick which bits of a religion to follow. You either swallow it whole or none of it. No thinking for yourself. Total submission to the accepted version, or none
