Why does my partner keep denying that I’m going through perimenopause?

I know I am at the perimenopausal stage because I am 46 and have some of the symptoms such as constantly having headaches, couldn't sleep at night, either waking up too early or frequently waking up, mood changes, having itchy skin and my hair texture is changing. I also noticed my period changed from 3–4 days to 2 days for the past 2 months.

I told him about it, but he keeps saying no, that I'm not at that stage. He said I need to get checked before assuming. I will get checked. I will book next week for a general check-up because I'm due, but a simple blood test won't detect it. He told me months ago that he will support me. I know my body. Now that I'm telling him about it, he keeps saying I'm wrong and he gets upset.

Next time he says so, ask him how he was when he went through his.

A bloodtest will detect the levels of hormones and they use that to determine what is.

Love it when men are experts on our bodies and hormones. 🙄

Damn he`s a doctor too?
Ask him what were/are his perimenopause symptoms?
My symptoms were growing longer and stronger claws and canines, sleeping during the day & a craving for seal blood!

He shouldn't get upset
But from my perspective you need to have it confirmed by a doctor

A blood test WILL detect it actually. Make sure you ask for on to detect perimenopause. My Sister and I both had blood tests and it detected ours. I sailed through mine probably because I have a lot of soya in my diet but my Sister struggled and still does a little. She's had to take HRT which is working for her. Her memory is improving and her hair isn't falling out as much. I hope you find some peace with this and maybe your partner can be a little more empathetic.
Oh is he a doctor now ?🙄
Men...smh

I could say typical male but since I do have a medical background and had a wife go through it it’s obvious to me. Is he the type that doesn’t like change? It actually became a positive in our life. All about accepting and adapting.
If I said something like that to a woman, I'd expect to bleed for two days too.

@NudasPriest Seriously.

Ummmm...he doesn't get it because we don't go through it.

@JohnnyNoir

FYI : No, men do not go through true menopause, but they experience a similar gradual decline in hormone levels called andropause or age-related low testosterone.
@pdockal True, but I don't think it is as bad as menopause!

@Guardian

Probably right but sometimes ........

He's the one in denial, not you. I just did a quick read. The two days you mentioned pretty much nails it.
ShenaniganFoodie · 41-45, M
have some of the symptoms = drinks like a fish & never goes to bed before 3am 🫣

Men think different and we don't always share our feelings proper . We usually think about solving the issue .

that is so frustrating, i don't have words

🤔🤔🤔 Is it possible that if YOU are in a perimenopausal state, he feels that HE is getting old? Could THAT be why he is in denial?
CrazyChick21 · 46-50, F
Fear. He knows its potentially going to mean changes to your mood and sex drive and he doesn't want to face that so he's pretending it's not happening it just yet.
Atari2678 · 41-45, M
Maybe he's not mature enough to actually respond properly .
