Not sure how to feel about this family situation.

My brother and his wife shared an incident report in our family Viber group about their 9yr old daughter being disruptive in class and possibly facing suspension. They seemed to find it amusing and the rest of the family joined in, but I personally didn’t see it that way. It felt more concerning than funny to me. So I muted the group.

From my perspective, she can sometimes be a bit of a challenging influence on my daughters. At the moment, my girls have chosen to exclude her from a game they’ve been playing because she hasn’t been following the rules. For now my girls just aren’t that interested in interacting with her

Let’s see how amusing they find it when she becomes a teenager. 🙄

@OlderSometimesWiser yeah I can't wait.

It seems that many parents think the school has the responsibility to discipline and teach respect and responsibility for the child's actions.
The fact that she is even being considered for suspension at 9 years old is a huge concern that needs to be corrected now before it's too late.
You should state your opinion on the group chat and then mute 😉

@Gusman I coached for 20 years and saw this first hand.
My wife is a teacher so she is still experiencing this first hand every day.

@Teslin So many children do not get the support they need from home. No wonder society is full of delinquents.

All our children will learn hard lessons from what we have taught or not taught them.

I think you DO know how you feel. You disapprove of your brother and his wifes attitude toward their disruptive daughter, AND you support your daughters who don't want to play with her.
GunFinger · F
@4meAndyou now I realise you're absolutely correct.

You should say something to him..
GunFinger · F
@GoFish i don't know what to say when even my parents find it entertaining.

@GunFinger sorry 😐
ineedadrink · 56-60, M
They are really contributing to her problems by laughing at this.
GunFinger · F
@ineedadrink she's the only girl and they think she got the behavior from my brother so they think it's cute.

One of the great Russian writers once started his story with the line " ever family has madness in their own peculiar way". ... Or something similar... All families are different
GunFinger · F
@Convivial yes, they are different if you think about it.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@GunFinger yup... Luckily you get to pick and choose....
i will say this....your daughters' mom have taught them well....who is this mom your daughters have...🤔...i was being silly but at the same time serious. kudos mom 🤗
GunFinger · F
@beermeplease thank you for saying that.
That's tricky...sounds like she needs help of some kind . There's probably more to the story there
GunFinger · F
@chernobylplaygr0unds she’s the youngest and the only girl among four children so she might be craving a bit more attention. She can be a brat too.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, M
Tough situation and her parents shouldn’t be treating it so lightly.
GunFinger · F
@Jenny1234 the parents were a bit delinquent when they were at school so I don't know how they will handle it.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
If it's like this at 9, what's going to be at 12-13? 😬
GunFinger · F
@CrazyMusicLover we'll see about that. I don't like her around my kids coz she's a bit of a bad influence. Lies and screams a lot.
akindheart · 70-79, F
That is a classic example of parent failure. when this escalates as she gets older, she is in for a rude awakening. she will be socially shunned for disruptive behavior. and will they be laughing then?
GunFinger · F
@akindheart good of her parents can discipline her. The parents were the same when they were younger.
