I just gotta say, looking for apartments in the city of Boston or In Massachusetts period is a joke. It's sad that now they are charging 3 grand for a

studio. A studio? What? Now, add first, last and security. That's insane! You at least need 1800 to start looking for apartments out here. No wonder everyone leaves Massachusetts because the rent is too high, too high! I'm thankful for the apt I got. Right in the middle of Boston but damnnnn! Massachusetts Get it together and step it up!

I enjoyed my time living in the Boston area....in a college dormitory! Even back then, the cost of living in "real" Boston was crazy. I still love that city, but I cannot imagine living there!

Housing costs are out of control these days. It’s especially bad in wealthy, high-demand places like Boston, NYC, and California. I’m in the Bay Area and an average studio in my town is at least $2800 a month. In my county if you make less than $120K a year you’re considered “low income”.
@Anthony450 Hence people in RVs on public streets...

I was able to buy a house 3 years ago with a mortgage that was cheaper than the renewal rental in my apartment. An apartment that had to be treated twice for black mold caused by the until above leaking water. I'm in NC and it's crazy

I go to Boston regularly for business. Its wayyyy too big and busy for me. I guess im not a city boy 🤷

It is a small city surrounded by endless suburbs. It didn't take a genius to see that once rough areas (Charlestown. Southie) would become EXTREMELY desireable once cleaned up
Either pay the rent and live where you want to work or live your life, or pay half the rent but then pay the equivalent to your savings in commuting cost plus the time factor for commuting, the latter of which must have a cost-factor associated with it, even if your time is worth minimum wage.

What I've learned is, if you want to live right downtown where the action is and where your job is located and you can walk to either within 15 minutes of your apartment, take the apartment and pay the rent they want because commuting is more expensive than anything cheaper you can rent which requires a car to get to where you need to be.

I've heard it called The People's Republic of Taxachusetts.

@uncalled4

Many call it that - but when they get to NY or NJ it seems almost silly.

There is soooooooo much tech and finance $ in that area, chasing a limited amount of real estate, it becomes Monopoly $ very soon

@Thrust NJ blows.

Everything is crazy these days partly because of Biden's import of illegals and paying all their expenses for them drives everything up for everyone unfairly .. it’s insane 😏 liberals will deny this but what do they know?

@Ynotisay I wouldn't expect an intelligent response from @YoMomma. Last time I outwitted him, he blocked me.
Is that all? Studio apartments in the city of Toronto rent from between $3.00 and $6.00 per square foot, depending on the location. A studio apartment that's about 500 square feet would rent from between $1500 and $3000 per month.

Housing and rent prices are insane these days. Something drastic needs to be done about it but the rich are getting to rich off of it for that
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I’m in a studio paying 1457 in MA; it is ridiculous
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Jesus tap-dancing Christ on a cracker! $3,000 for a STUDIO?!? Those people are raking it in!
