Losing $10 is painful at this point in my life.

BlobbyMcBlobface · 100+, M
I was out of work for a while a few years ago and it made me appreciate every pound that i had in my pocket. I now have a well paid job but still raise my eyebrows at the price of food in some restaurants. Being forced to be careful with money has made me reluctant to waste as much on a meal as I'd spend on a whole week's worth of groceries, £50 is still a lot of money to me if spent unwisely.

$50 is a huge amount of money.

As I have a mortgage and do part-time shiftwork around parenting my daughter, money is something that often gets tightly rationed.

ie. my house/contents insurance comes due next month and will be around A$4000. I save all year to be able to pay that without needing to re-draw from the home loan.

When I got the home loan, I did two big things. I got rid of my credit card (before I applied for the loan), and gave up buying alcohol (beer) so I've had no alcoholic drinks at home for about 2 years.

A spare $50 is an extra mortgage repayment.

I recently lost $40k after I pulled out of a business contract. I know it’s a lot of money, but the partner had a history of doing sloppy work so it saved me from further damages. So it depends. Considering the longterm effect, it wasn’t a lot of money though it was a lot at that instant.

$50 is a lot of money to me. That's 42,85 € and I don't spend that much every other day. $100 is 85,70 €. As you say, context matters. If I paid that much for healthcare insurance every month now, I'd cry in joy. It's over 100 € now. And yeah, it's a lot of money.

I lost 500 not so long ago and just hoped the person that found it needed food or something for their family. I could have used it but what is gone is gone. Why worry 🤷🏾‍♀

I guess it's always perspective ,if someone can't afford to lose $25 dollars even it be too much to lose .
I have no idea really. Im always either running on empty or saving for the next thing i need to get or fix.

As long as i have necessities covered, i feel at peace: roof/food/car/electricity and water.
Oh....and phone.

Ive lost two homes, lost half my belongings leaving a shit boyfriend, been burgled, had someone try and steal my car and attempt to burn where i live down.

Money is money - it hurts when you need it and dont have it🤷‍♀

- yet we move on -

I feel like money is replaceable though.
There are other losses that hurt more.

50 dollars is a purchase worth thinking about, losing 20 or more is concerning. I do make a decent living, but I know the value of a dollar.

£10 is a lot of money to me - especially when I don't get any money for months on end.

Anything under $1,000 doesn't bother me. So I guess that's what I consider to be a lot of money. There was a time when that was 5 months of my salary.

Every penny is important.

Like most Americans, I live paycheck to paycheck. Any gain or loss over about $20 is something to be considered.
At this stage, $50 is more than I can really afford to lose. $100 is groceries or an electric bill.
MadameFrazzleBottom · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard I getcha. Pretty much the same here. It won't break me, but I would hate losing it.
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
Losing any money hurts me right now.
Every dollar that I own is important to me

Hmm, I begin thinking about it at about $100, but it has to be $1000 or more for me to seriously reconsider spending it.
MadameFrazzleBottom · 46-50, F
@Ontheroad Yes but I am not talking about buying stuff. In general how much is 'a lot'? $100?
Ontheroad · M
@MadameFrazzleBottom sometimes I'm slow. I guess the answer would be $1000.
MadameFrazzleBottom · 46-50, F
@Ontheroad I was a little vague. I edited the post to clarify.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
I would say $500

Are you trying to gauge people's wealth so you know who to try to scam?
MadameFrazzleBottom · 46-50, F
@HoeBag Relax 🙂 I am not on here enough to threaten your popularity with the boys. 🙂
